Prediction: Obama will set a record for Presidential Pardons

In the next 2 years, Obama will be churning out pardons like there is no tomorrow. In an effort to swell the voting ranks for Democrats in key electoral states, look for him to issue pardons in the TENS OF THOUSANDS to non-violent drug offenders during that time.

I hope he pardons every black prisoner in the federal system. The melt will be awesome.

Just a guess but I suspect Eric Holder has a long list to send to obama.

How does his record on pardons compare to the last four presidents, at this stage in their terms?

Good non-violent drug offenders deserve to be pardoned

I hope he does.
It costs an average of $52/day to keep a person locked up.
Thats $1500/month, $30,000 a year.
Let's say he lets your number 10,000 out.
That's $3,000,000,000. And although a drop in the bucket monetarily, can you really put a price on the purchasing of freedom?

would be interesting to see what the raw numbers are for each president.
i mean, if the previous high is 10 and obama does 11, then i know the right iwll pitch a fit but its nothingburger

Good deal. It's like we're doing a Mariel boatlift to ourselves. Barry's looking at the situation from Castro's eyes, i.e. You asked for it, you got it, Toyota!.

LINK
Bush sr - 77
clinton - 459
bush jr - 200
obama - 61
Looks like presidential pardons are trending down. after WWII, there were a shite ton of them. Nixon pardoned almost a 1000.
so to the OP, I doubt obama gets over 100.

I thought i read somewhere that his pardon numbers are much much lower than past presidents. now, he could be waiting till the very end to use this power, guess we'll wait and see.

It shouldn't be based on numbers but on who is being pardoned and for what offense.
Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich, at Eric Holder's urging was one of the more egregious I can recall.
Pardons aren't always a bad idea. But sometimes they're just plain sickening.

Obamas were the worst, though!

Slick Willy pardoned 140 on his last day. Obama's clock is still ticking.

That's not the measure. The pardons come in the final year. Not the first 7.

ok, so maybe he clips 100. But its not going to be a "record" unless he pardons all non violent drug offenders or goes absolutely bat shite crazy with the pardons.

Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich,
Well sometimes you need a boost for your presidential library, otherwise folks will just keep talking about cigars and ejaculate in the oval office.

RWR, aka the greatest POTUS in my lifetime, pardoned Merle Haggard who has been a great force in the American way of life.
