anytime these breweries pull these moves, it's just really fricking stupid on their part though. cigar city, kane, and fiftyfifty all had major frickups in this regard

i seriously think this whole article is grossly exaggerated.

Oh there are definitely some exaggerations, like this:

quote:

If you’re an Average Joe who was unable to land any Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout this year, you’d probably be upset to learn that a Beerz 4 Fearz Chicago operative spent most of November going around to area retailers offering to buy their entire allotment for 20% over cost—so long as they would assure him the beer would never hit their shelves. While you were scrounging for a meager four-pack, he acquired literally thousands of bottles.

Really? BCBS is almost nationwide and not that hard to find on Black Friday. I had a hard time believing this, unless they are talking about variants like Vanilla Rye or Prop.

quote:

Really doubt any of this even happens anymore.

I bet it happens to a certain extent. I could see brewers hooking their buddies up. But hopefully not anything too crazy. You know, Vinny letting his buddy grab a case of Beatification is a lot different than six cases.

What was the Kane story? Too high limits on ANTEADs?

yeah. knew they had very limited supply of variants, originally set low limit, told people no need to show up early, tons of people show up early, decide to raise variant limit???, shitshow ensues and bunch of people get shutout.

Isn't the mass production of BCBS a new phenomenon? If not it is for sure a poor example.

Maybe a few years ago it would have been a good example.

This feels like a good thread to let yall know that Side Project just opened a Cellar and Tap Room with three different tap systems set at three different temperatures. They sell their own stuff, and high quality beer from other breweries on tap, as well as having a vintage list of bottles available for on premise consumption.

I went a few weeks ago, it was pretty cool and laid back.

I'm going to pick up a few bums on my way to Yazoo this afternoon. Plenty between here and there. Bottle limit be damned!

Or not. That shite is like $25/bottle. Not like I could afford more than the one bottle limit.

no joke Parish's release of GR was one of the most painless special releases ever. Going to Dark Lord Day a couple of years showed me just how ridiculous and unnerving the craft scene was. I think after saturating myself for years I knew I had to step back. I had bigger thing to worry about in life than chasing down beer. shite got to be fricking expsnsive too.

The mule thing is nothing more than a collective sharing effort. Guys that can get access hook up others to be hooked up later. No bg thing. I think the "photos of women with rare beer between their breasts" is about the fricking geekiest thing i've ever heard of.

I love beer and I reffuse to hoard the shite anymore. I used to. I have so much fricking beer that I don't even know if I'll ever get rid of it all short of pouring it out, or giving it away. I've got FFF Dark Lords from about 5 years, Abyss from about 4 years, Stone Verts from 09, and maybe earlier. I did that kinda shite for about 6 years solid. Life got in the way when i really saw how much time and money I was pissing away on it all.

My friend has gone to that place and really enjoyed it! He just wants them to sell bottles for off-premise consumption.

I'll be going to City Beer for this Abraxis release and will be hoarding as many bottles as I can afford. Which according to the wife is one (1). I told her there are bottle limits, so don't worry.

I'm giving away my last 4 pack of goats. The rare is gone, at least for me anyway.
