BOTTOM LINE Consistent, upright three-step approach on placements. Good trajectory on kicks, gets them up quickly with a strong downward strike on the ball. Misses are just outside of the uprights to the left or right, not major misfires. Flashes 55-yard range with NFL-caliber height on the kicks, not line-drives. Excellent strength and height on kickoffs, times well over 4.0 seconds consistently and gets the ball to the middle or front part of the end zone even with nice trajectory. A potential special teams weapon.

If he can make a 55 yard FG, I'm in. Shayne Graham couldn't make a 55 yard FG when he was 25.

The following differentiates him from Graham more if true:

The Bills thought about keeping him as a kickoff specialist this year. Payton probably called Marrone up and got a good recommendation on the kid.

He could probably cover on kickoffs if needed

i dont see them making a switch until after the season. Graham really hasnt been bad this year. think this kid may just be for the future.

it must be terrifying being a kicker for the Saints.

He hasn't been bad, but like you said, next year.

Shayne Graham is currently hiting us for 955k, half of that will be cap space with dustin hopkins on board (minimum contract).

Graham is 19/22 on the year; 86.4%
6/6 20-29
9/9 30-39
3/5 40-49
1/2 50+
41/42 XP

we also have had to punt instead of kicking a 55 yard FG…that is unacceptable in the NFL

hell, the falcons beat us by kicking TWO FGs one as time expired and the other in OT that Graham doesn't even have the leg to make either.

graham has been fine to finish out this year. Can't believe Payton tried that ridiculous field goal in CHI.

It was 4th and 12 from the 33 yard line. Wind was less than 5mph. He should make that kick.

But you love an idiotic reason to criticize Payton.

He's not that good. He's not wildly inconsistent. Automatic from 20-39 yards (15/15) but Payton is rarely even calling on him from 40+ (4/7). NFL kickers should be able to regularly kick 45 yarders and have a decent average on 50 yards or so.

At the very least, you have to think your NFL kicker has a decent chance to make that kick. Shayne Graham proved why he shouldn't be on this team next year. But I wouldn't mind the Saints sticking with Graham for the rest of the year just because they know what they'll get and you don't want a wild card in there in clutch situations. If that make sense.

I was at the game it was 37 degrees and a damp wet heavy kind of cold. That grass is like a high school field no way he'd have made it
