To reask, was there ever one before the one on Highland was built?

Was it any different, menu and atmosphere wise.

*Inspired by the "Places you THINK you were at in BR thread" as I THINK I was at this place and it was called Sammy's.

not to my knowledge but Jones Creek Oyster bar used to be on Jones Creek before it moved to the new location.

It was a "Sammy's Southern Bistro". Slighty different menu, no large amount of seafood if I recall correctly (I was young). Was in the shopping center at Jones Creek and Tiger Bend. Fun Fact: they sponsored my american legion baseball team for a couple of years.

Boom. I remember sitting outside eating and it was shopping-center-like. Same ownership?

Thanks.

My parents told me the other day that the first Sammy's used to be where Chelsea's is now, under the Perkins Road overpass. That was before it moved out to Highland.

They are old, so they could be mistaken or not remembering things correctly.

They had really good food which I went back for 7 or 8 times, but each time the service had me leaving thinking, "never again". (no offence twain)

Yep. Their Mozzarella sticks were awesome.

It was also a godfathers pizza and something else I think.

No, the one off Highland is the first one. Then they opened one off Perkins.

I'm pretty sure there was one on Highland long before the one under the Overpass. I think before Sammy's, that location was the Colonel's Club (and probably a few other places I can't recall the names of). This was about 20 years ago when I was in college.

Had a Delchamps, Godfathers, Sammys, Hallmark (still there BTW), Zack's ice cream, a video rental place (Showtime I think?) and a mexican joint on the very far end on Tiger Bend side.

it's average food, not bad food, but it is overrated a lot on here..it's about on par with dempsey's except with more menu options.
