Yes, I did. He's a solid contributor in our LB corps, and played well against Arkansas. I don't think many fans were expecting much more out of him.

Really? I was. He was penciled in as a starter and had only 7 tackles through the first 5 games. Hopefully the light will come on and he'll have more than 29 tot tackles next year.

In his defense, he's the first off the field when we go nickel.

Phillips as a freshman played more than all of those guys with the exception of Kwon. He will be welcomed back with open arms.

He had a bad year man. Louis, debo, and riley really have to step their game up next year because the def could be really special.

Didn't we just sign Clifton Garrett last year?

OLB is the real worry. Garrett is a MLB all the way

I think Duke Riley steps up his game and becomes a really good OLB. He's got all the skills required to excel in Chavis' defense.

I don't really like it, but the staff seems set on taking a big LB haul in '16.

If we add Leo Lewis this year and Joyner and Divinity next year would be great adds

I have no problem with any other recruiting position numbers (now that Studrawa is gone and OL numbers will pick up) but is all this TE recruiting that has been going on for years? As Sean McDonough said on a broadcast (WI game maybe), "LSU has 10,000 tight ends on the roster". Instead of signing TEs who either can't catch or get YAC and putting them as blockers, here's a novel idea....sign more OL and other positions. If you want another blocker on the LOS, recruit another OL, put an eligible number on him if it makes you feel better, and NOT throw to him just like LSU doesn't throw at the TE now.

Lewis could happen. I think we should take McGinnis regardless.

Louis played well towards the end of the season, especially in the Ole Miss and Bama games. He was very physical and was able to get off blocks. The LB unit will be good in 2015, the year after is when things get questionable because the 2016 class will be relied on to contribute as soon as they step on campus.

Louis played well towards the end of the year. He was hardly on the field the first part of the season.

Chavis was quoted saying this was the deepest/most talented LB corp he had ever been around. Not to mention the fact that you don't have the #1 Overall Defense in the SEC without having good LBs.

Pretty sure Chavis knows what he's doing. Linebackers are his bread and butter.

He was also quoted before this year that he thinks our de's are the best duo out there or close to it. I know chavis knows what he's doing as far as coaching the lbs. A lot of people just have a problem with our recruiting of them i.e. having years where we get 0-1 commits then having to take a huge class like in 2012 and 2015
