The team was telling everyone that even though Cutler was a mediocre quarterback for eight years, the ninth would be different. He would be paid like he was on the same level as the game's best quarterbacks. And now, 14 games later, they’re benching Cutler for Jimmy Clausen.

I would still take Cutler over Clausen any day. Cutler still getting that big paycheck though.

Im sure this will tremendously improve their defense and offensive line play.

The line isnt that bad. And it was pretty damn good last year. Its not nearly as bad as cutlers first couple years in chicago.

The bears average 8.6 first half points. But jay sucks because he has a bad defense?

No, the bears dont suck only because of Jay. They dont have anyone better to put out there.

26th ranked rush offense with Matt Forte.
Last in the League in scoring defense by far.

Those are much bigger issues than Jay Cutler as your QB

Jay Cutler's attitude and lack of give a shite is destroying the team more so than anything else on the field.

I know the bears are more than a qb away from being good, but a team built to win shootouts has to score. The sack % is pretty good. There is talent and opportunity. They could get better results from a cheaper qb and reinvest across the board.

Signing cutty never made sense outside of the fact that the bears were attempting to delay a total rebuild by a couple of seasons.

Qbs with his numbers and results get benched all the time. Its more than deserving, and im sickly fascinated to see if a scrub backup can outplay the leagues highest paid offensive player like mccown did last year.

offensive line play

Their O-line isn't that bad - that's the piece of the puzzle that everyone seems to overlook. If anyone ever watched a Bears game, they'd realize that three-fourths of the sacks given up are due to Cutler's inability to A) step up in the pocket, B) get rid of the ball, C) escape the pocket, D) give a shite, or - most commonly - E) a combination of the above.

Every year, Cutler is shite. And every year, people use the offensive line as an excuse for Cutler (even last year, when their O-line was top 5 in the league). Cutler apologists never acknowledge that the only common denominator on every shitty Jay Cuter team is. . . Jay Cutler.

Benching pro athletes (unless they have such a massive ego that maybe it does get to them, like RG3) is useless.

Cutler will sit the bench, collect his big check from the game, and go home to frick his wife without being as sore as usual.

I agree that their line isn't as bad as people are making it out to be, but it isn't good. Also, they weren't top 5 last year. Not even close. They're actually doing a better job of protecting Cutler this year.
