The ridiculous 'hands up/can't breathe' movement is about trying to pressure police into allowing citizens to troll and act offensively towards police with no repercussions. & this is another fine example of such foolishness.

I agree that your best bet is stay out of trouble. There are entirely too many internet heroes out there who are trying to 'get' the police ie recording them during routine traffic stops and trying to provoke them, etc.

Agree. Yet let one of them get caught driving drunk, kill a few people, and they will line up to defend them.
.

This is why the old saw about most cops being decent and only a few making it hard on the rest is bullshite. If it weren't for the "good" cops standing by silently when they know their co workers are acting a fool there would be far fewer acting like a fool. In my opinion it is a worse crime for a cop to turn their head or cover up when a fellow cop breaks the law than any law that a civilian could break because the cops are both guilty of betraying the public trust. That is more damaging to society in general than any individual crime.

Hopefully everyone of these idiots wearing "I can't breathe" shirts will all fail miserably at the choking game

Well that happened once therefore it happens every time. All police are th bad guys, we should be able to confront police with guns without repercussion. FDP!

It doesn't happen every time.
Neither is it true that everyone minding their own business is free from police harassment.

If the cops stopped giving them reasons to complain, then the rhetoric would quiet down

I think there is the implicit assumption in a lot of peoples minds that anyone who criticizes the current methods of policing is someone who is a lawbreaker. If you think that, then you believe nothing that the police do will change the criticism of them. I don't think either of those things are true.

There are INJUSTICES without doubt, but there are also EXAGGERATIONS of the injustices, as many have a viewpoint or agenda to prove.

As far as the T-Shirts .. "sell-on" it is America...after all, will the I Can't Breathe Shirts stop

T shirts are not the issue.
Police is not the problem...the militarization of the police IS A PROBLEM and needs to be addressed.

I would like to know what % of the police force has previous military training and experie3nce, then compare that with:
in the 50's, 60's, 70's and so on.

I really feel that's where the problem lies..in the approach and implementation.

Perhaps. However, I am at times critical of some of the current methods of policing, and I've been working for police departments for nearly 30 years.

I would say the majority of police officers have always been military veterans. I love hiring veterans, because for the most part they are mature, understand real stress, are disciplined, understand team work and dedication.

The everyday officer is no more militarized than we ever have been. We do have better equipment and rifles. The rifles are a direct response to mass shootings and the LA bank robbery. The military equipment is for the most part used by SWAT and/or natural disasters.
