Pancho's. Used to go there on late Sunday mornings and pay like $5 for All You Can Eat. Then go back to the apartment and sleep. remember it well and fit right into a poor kid's college budget.
In the 1980s south Louisiana economy, low rent places like that were fairly popular family dining spots.

Who remembers the bar on Highland Rd. downtown right by the bridge called Cypress Hollow? It's changed names many times since then, but I've been away from BR for years and I don't know what it's called now.
We used to go there after school my senior year at CHS, back when the drinking age was 18. We watched this guy paint a mural on the wall of a swamp scene with frogs playing instruments - very cool.
Just a few years later, the bar was sold and renamed "The Art Bar". Of course, the first damn thing the "Art Bar" did was to paint over the wall mural with mustard yellow paint. Those sumbitches!

Yes, the parish took his property to widen O'neal.

OLd AM radio station on College where the Wal Mart is
I vaguely remember driving down College as a small child and seeing this, with a big tower. I think it was where the Albertsons now is?
Wasn't there a school on College somewhere as well (near the interstate, not Westdale Elementary).

No, that was Chris' on North. Happy Note was known for their STRONG drinks and a place to "warm up" prior to hitting clubs.
