9mm.....extra 100 fps....what does it do?

This is ultimately a thread about SMGs, but can we ignore it for a moment?
BBTI
Take a 16" barrel vs a 4" barrel chambered in 9mm:
115 gr JHP+p 4"-------1316 fps
115 gr JHP+p 16"-------1525 fps so plus aprox 210 fps
125 gr JPH+p 4"-------1226 fps
125 gr JHP+p 16"-------1430 fps so plus approx 200
What can this actually do for you (practical/real world)?
-barrier penetration
-gel ballistics
-additional range effectiveness out to 100yds
-any other thoughts?****
****if you wouldn't mind just keeping this about 9mm and not about how you'd go with some other caliber like 5.7 or .45. Just wanting to know about what the additional fps can actually do for you and why a Subgun can help your projectile find its home faster and more effectively.

I don't imagine it makes too much of a difference if the bullet isn't designed for it.

It goes a 100 feet per second faster

My 357 sig has those numbers if you buy expensive rounds. It's 'flatter' is the answer. More accurate is the outcome, but claims of energy transfer and other shite are claimed as well.

In the example rounds you gave here (+P), the main reason for the additional speed is that in the 16" barrel, most, if not all, of the powder in the round has ignited in the barrel where in the 4" it has not. Complete powder burn is what most people who reload for
accuracy try to achieve. Powder burning outside the barrel after
the bullet is gone does no good. Although some like a big fireball
on the end of their gun. In a
combat or self defense situation, a
fireball may disorient or even
temporarily blind the shooter
making followup shoots difficult. In
my opinion, the most useless gun is a 2 1/2" 357 Magnum for this
very reason. I'm not sure about all
the effects of energy or "stopping
power" 200 fps will have. A lot of
it is bullet design. The more
contact with the barrel a bullet
has, the more accurate it should
be in theory but that also depends
on bullet weight and design. As a reloader I can say that faster is not always the most accurate. Bullet weight and powder charge have a lot to do with accuracy.

I would think it has something to do with the energy from the powder being behind the bullet longer. The energy can accelerate the bullet to a higher velocity if it is applied for a longer duration when exiting a longer barrel. Once the bullet and energy exit the barrel, the energy disapates and no longer is applied.
This is where your good old work formula comes in if you know a bit about physics.
Been a while since I've seen physics but I believe it was W=f*d
Gravity then requires the same amount of work to counter this and return the bullet to the ground. I know my knowledge isn't the best, but that's the general jist I believe.

Do you just write a poem?

Wouldn't longer barrel help achieve better twist as well or would this have any effect? I was thinking it would.

Ambien posing from my phone! Upon review, I actually didn't do too bad with it. Kinda stayed on point. I've had some 'WTF?' moments in the past.
