I got mine done at 22. It did suck, but I used to get sick everytime the seasons changed. That's been over 10 years and I think I might have been sick once since then that wasn't alcohol induced.

Yep same.

Did tonsils and sinus surgery all at once. Changed my life.

Sleeping with my mouth closed is amazing.

I've been told before by a doc that I needed it done. I never did, but now adding in the tonsil stones it's just fricking disgusting.

Had it done at 23. Absolutely miserable. 2 days after surgery the scabs in my throat busted back open and had to have them resealed after throwin up blood for an hour. Stay in bed and relax as much as possible. Keep the pain meds close by

Bro, no offense but who does that at 26? I had that done when I was like 5 and thought everyone did? I mean if your parents couldn't afford it I understand but I have never heard of anyone getting it done at that age. Is that normal, I really don't know.

Had to have 18 inches of my colon removed & have had 4 shoulder surgeries two broken elbows bilateral tib fib fractures & my tonsils were more painful than all of That. just take your pain meds around the clock you are not going to die but it does suck.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the OPs situation. I may have to have mine out too, time will tell.

My scabs busted open after 2 weeks. Spent a night in the hospital because the doctor thought he'd have to go back in there.

Had it done along with sinus surgery when I was 40 to stop my snoring.

It can be miserable. Let me STRESS something - you will be on a very low fat liquid diet for awhile. This can result in you becoming constipated like a freakimg concrete truck. Take stool softeners daily......I cannot recommend this enough

Getting my tonsils and adenoids out soon.. Any advice?
I had the same issues, but I would also get tonsils stones. Those are a fricking disgusting nightmare. I'm ready to get these things outta my head.

My wife used to have the similar episodes about once every month or two. Sore throat, coughing up a tonsilith or two. She stopped drinking sodas and sugar for lent 2 years ago and hasn't drank one since. Hasn't had an episode since either.

I wasn't trying to be rude, I just thought everyone gets that done as a kid if they need it?

Nah, I wasn't poor as a child, but I obviously didn't need it at 5. I was told around 15-16 that I should have it done. I was stupid and didn't listen, so here I am. A 26 year old getting my tonsils out. It doesn't seem to be that strange given all the other responses?

just speaking in my scenario. Problems have developed that I didn't have when I was young. I know they would have been taken out as a kid if need be but there wasn't a need to do an unnecessary surgery when I was a kid.

Do you still have your appendix? Chances are you do. if not, problems developed that confirmed that it needed to be taken out. Same with tonsils, problems can develop that deem it necessary for them to be removed.

They don't just yank tonsil anymore unless there is good reason.

I got mine out at 36 because I had Strep Throat like 10 times in 10 months.
