Well yeah, he's Jim Harbaugh.
It would be impossible to be 2 people at the same time.

I think Harbaugh would kill it at Michigan. I also don't think he can match Saban's success at Bama. Who knows who the "better" coach is, but the only logical and useful way to compare coaches is via success defined as conference and national championships. If at Michigan, Harbaugh can't match Saban's Bama accomplishments, the question is settled insofar as who is the better major college coach. The NFL question has already been settled in Harbaugh's favor. I'll let you keep debating the Stanford vs Michigan St. question.

Ok. Look at Harbaughs last year he went 12-1, and then look at the two years after he left. He had Stanford setup for continued success.
IMO, Harbaugh is a good coach who is not nearly as good as people are making him out to be. I could see him going to Michigan and winning big. I could also see him going there and only winning 10 games once and then being run out of town or leaving on his own within 3-5 years.

quote:I think Saban's success at Bama has a lot to do with Bama's desire to be the best...and their rich history (5 legit national titles...more than any other school). He is the perfect match for that school. Not many schools have as much energy surrounding their program as Bama.
I also don't think he can match Saban's success at Bama

You said it to help justify your belief that Harbaugh is a better coach. Championships aside.. while technically true that Harbaugh's 1-loss year is the same as Saban's 2nd best year, it doesn't tell the entire story and completely writes off any of his other "equal" 1-loss seasons. It's just a flawed argument and not a good way to look at it.

It's less of a debate of who did better at the respective schools and more a debate of which of the schools is better set-up for a coach to succeed.
Stanford has been to the Rose Bowl 14 times.
Michigan State has been there 5.
Ty Willingham won the Pac10 at Stanford. He was atrocious everywhere else.
Though obviously an individual award, Stanford has one Heisman winner and two runners-up. Michigan St. has never had a winner.
On the other side, Michigan St. has an all time winning percentage of .599. Stanford's is .575. Michigan St. has also won national championships, Stanford has not.
Also worth noting re the ease of winning at Bama...Mike Dubose won the SEC at Bama.
In sum, it's up for debate.

You're a former LSU player right?
Let's call a spade a spade. You used to be someone important, the big man on campus. Now you're at home posting on the same website we all are, but not completely anonymously.
Other former players probably post here, but they do not advertise it. You have, otherwise I wouldn't know that. You still need to feel important.
You need to feel important, so you want to say you played for the best coach in the NCAA ever. Your view is biased. You obviously want to fantasize that your experience was unique and you got to be taught by the best coach ever....
It's egocentric tunnel vision. I especially enjoyed the part where you say all his former players love him. I absolutely know that isn't the case. Many of his former players openly talk about what a douche bag dickhead Saban is.
Let it go. I know you want to still be relevant, but you're not anymore. In fact, your personal experiences with saban seemed to have warped your version of reality.
The predication that better coaches move onto the nfl and can succeed at both levels and not just stay in the NCAA where they can lobby, politic, bend rules, and break others to contort results, is not an illogical argument.
Carroll and JH won at high levels in college and the pros, something saban could not do. He is a worse X's and O's coach, and a better politician

Billy, you're an idiot who erroneously assumes too much. I didn't play for Saban and, I am far more "important" now. My background has been postedin the past to substantiate a position on a topic. Unless I was a former player of note identifying myself, my posts would not prop up an ego.
You fancy yourself an intellectual when in reality you are a monkeydick.
eta: it has been said specifically that the outspoken players who flame him were known slackers, troublemakers, etc.

I seem to remember Bill Belicheck saying what kind of incredible coach Saban is.
I don't think he has said that about Harbaugh.
I'll take his opinion on the matter over a buncha butthurt rantards
