Well, they have never tried him at quarterback. he couldn't be any worse than some of the QB play they have had in recent years.

But if that's the criteria (which it is), then in todays NFL, the award should just be called "Best QB".

That's essentially what it's become because the QB is the most important position on the team.

I'm going to go with the Dark Horse candidate, Gronk.

Such a ridiculous way of thinking.

Rodgers will get it, but Watt and Murray deserve it more.

with a special criteria: If Manning's near the conversation, he gets it

Why?

Rodgers has 5 picks on the year (3 going into last week).

Meh. Manning has more than double the interceptions and has a better team.

How do you judge MVP candidates? Literally most valuable player? Who had the best year? Some other way?

Rodgers will because the QB position is inherently more valuable than any other position. So the best QB trumps the best at any other position as far as value goes.

But with that said Watt is the best player in the NFL, and if the award was Most Outstanding Player (MOPY) instead - losing the "value" connotation - he'd win.

Running backs only win the MVP by a) rushing for 2,000 yards (usually lose regardless in this instance) or b) breaking the touchdown record (guaranteed MVP). Murray will do neither, so has no prayer.
If murray plays this Sunday with the hand drama and gets over 150 yds, he will only be 150 short of 2,000 and have the amazing injury tough man drama. He has a chance

Should be Rodgers, but they'll probably find a way to gift it to Peyton again.

It'll probably be Aaron Rodgers with Tom Brady close behind. Peyton Manning, Damarco Murray, and JJ Watt are long shots.

Tom Brady shouldn't win it in my humble opinion. He has been erratic this year, and was pretty bad in the first quarter of the season.

If it was literally most valuable player, wouldn't Peyton Manning just win by default every season?

I think you have to go by who had the best year. At least that's what they've been doing. And the QB bias is stupid, nobody is doing anything as impressive as JJ Watt this year.

No, because he's not the most valuable player.

No it's not. QB is the most important position on the team.

JJ Watt has been incredible though.
