92 has that classic look that I dig, reminds me of an imaginary gun my dad may or may not have had

Meh
It's still a Model 92, with a slide-mounted safety. It's still big and heavy.
The military carries these things as a "last resort" if all their M4's and SAWs run out of ammo - and no artillery or air support is available.
It's not well suited for CCW. It's certainly not "badass." It was a compromise gun when the Army adopted it the first time. Action is smooth. Safety lever is positioned poorly and is arse-backwards (rotate it "up" to deactivate the safety). The double-action half of the DA/SA trigger is smooth but long and very heavy (~ 10 lb.); the SA half is tolerable.
I have one of the original 92FS models. I haven't fired it in over 20 years, and certainly haven't carried it. It's quite reliable. But it's a relic that has few applications for civilians.
My advice is worth what you paid to read it ...... I'd estimate the value of my advice < $.02

The M9A3 introduces major improvements to the M9 that will increase the operational effectiveness and operational suitability of the weapon. The improvements include design and material enhancements resulting in increased modularity, reliability, durability, and ergonomics.
WOW!! Their explanation makes the "improvements" clear as mud...
Grip angle does look pretty steep....

Exactly what I was thinking. What exactly is revolutionary about these improvements? They added a threaded barrel and painted it tan. Woopty do.

I think the grip angle looks just like the angle on their original 92 and my personal 90-two. But there aren't any other significant improvements that I can see.

Yea that's worthless.
My buddy has an M9 and I shoot the damn thing better than any other handgun. I hate it, but it shoots sooooooooo good. I might have to get one eventually just because we get along so well.

They're very soft shooters and fun range toys for sure.

I didn't see the word "revolutionary" mentioned anywhere in the link.
Sounds like they are making the same type of product-improvement changes every single small arm the US military issues go through. I'm sure many of the changes are material in nature and actually do go a long way to practical improvement that you can't just see in a picture.

The M9A3 features a thin grip with a removable, modular wrap-around grip, MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail, removable front and rear tritium sights, extended and threaded barrel for suppressor use, 17-round sand resistant magazine, and numerous improved small components to increase durability and ergonomics, all in an earth tone finish.

I think I could state that ketchup is red and you would still find something to refute.

I don't see anything "next generation" about this gun. Maybe it'll end up proving me wrong and I'll feast on some crow. We'll see.

I've never understood the hate for 92s. People almost never say why they don't like them. They are nice and heavy. The look is bad arse, and they shoot so sweet.

Googled a pic, found this:
I like the grip angle.
ETA - she has wang between her tatas

We certainly don't want people to know a soldier has a gun...

Common when people don't do much research. What do think the difference between an M4 and a M4A1 are? Military considers them different generations yet the changes are nothing drastic. Thicker barrel, material changes, etc...all add up. M16, M16A1/2/3/4...not much changed from A2 to A4. Same with pretty much all military small arms systems and most legacy combat vehicles.

We need more handgun discussion on here. Most of the threads are simply "what _____ should I buy" (I started one yesterday). I've enjoyed this thread, snark and all.
