I wonder if they paused and awkwardly cleared their throat before they cut him

Wow. They don't even let these guys get their day in court anymore.

He may well be guilty, but who's to say it isn't a gold digger looking for a pay day?

The Niners stood by him earlier this season despite the calls for him to be suspended amidst the Rice stupidity. Charges were never filed in that instance.

Baalke said he was cut for a "pattern of poor decision-making" and they've apparently been trying to get him to get his shite together for a while.

Tank Carradine time.

Maybe the 9ers thought a second strike was enough to cut him.

Yay, another wasted pick.

But Baalke built the team and Harbs is the one who should go

If the 49ers were still in the playoff race today I don't think an accusation of a 2nd strike gets him cut.

So he gets a paid two week vacation, 49ers are out of the playoffs.

He would have been a free agent at season's end, and he still gets paid the remainder of his contract.

The triggering incident happened after they were already eliminated chief.

Lot of ways to explain what happened but its awfully convenient that due process was so important to SF and now it isn't .

The team does their own investigation using ex-police. If they felt he would make it through his due process unscathed he would still be on the team similar to the incident earlier in the year.

if the person was colin kaepernick and they were still in the playoff race do you think 9ers would still let due process play out?

So they finished their investigation in hours? Nah.
They didn't want to make more excuses for a guy who won't be back anyway.

Every single team to a certain extent will "put up" with more off the field issues for their most important players. I don't think Ray McDonald is any where near a "star" player. I believe had their due diligence on the issue early in the year contained the similar concerns that he would have been released as then as well.

Do you think they found out about this at the same time the media did? You can't be that naive.

She went to the hospital and they notified police last night. Any investigation is hours old at this point.

That's my point. This isn't a situation where the 49ers are taking the high road because they are outraged at the accusations.

This is simply a case of a player not being worth the trouble he brings. If they were still in the playoff hunt it would certainly be a factor in their decision making.

Has this not been the status quo for all sports franchises?

In the first incident, the teams due diligence didn't bring up anything that was materially concernincng. In the end he wasn't even charged.

In this incident I think it's clear that there are material negative issues discovered during their due diligence. Thus a decision needed to be made on what action to take. Factors include public reaction, star quality of player, impact on team, etc.

Nothing new or profound from any other team save for the Ravens and Rice lol.
