Who has the best lobster in Baton Rouge? I have eaten them at Sullivans, Ruth Chris and Flemings and liked them all but none have blown me away. What are your opinions?

Ive had local lobster in the Caribbean and South African lobster at Trulucks in Dallas and both were better than what I get here.

I have to agree with LL. The best lobster I've had was steamed by me in my kitchen. I prefer steamed King crab legs.

Live cold water Lobster is the same everywhere. What are you expecting out of a steamed lobster?

Those are warm water lobster and have a little more flavor but good luck finding them live here.

Agree. And even then, meh. It isn't bad. But it is far from exciting. I could never spend what restaurants charge on something so boring.

How is a lobster steamed in your kitchen any different than a lobster steamed at a restaurant? Serious.

I think the point was that the best lobster I've ever had was the best because it was $7.99 at Fresh Market. And it was still boring.

I adore lobster but steamed lobster never "blows me away" as much as I love it. I had steamed lobsters from the grocery over the weekend and lobster mac and cheese with bacon with the leftover. The steamed was delicious. The mac and cheese was good, but I don't get the love for lobster mac and cheese. Too heavy for lobster IMO. I also love steamed king crab, but not in a "blow me away" way. It's just good pure seafood flavor and I like that.

Well these posts are depressing. Seems like my issue isnt the prepping of the lobster at the restaurants but the quality of the lobster in BR. Seems like the consensus says it is no better than a tail that you buy at a grocery store. My problem is I like lobster a lot and am not the biggest fan of steak.

Well considering Lobster grows in Baton Rouge about as well as it does in Dallas what does this have to do with anything?

South African lobster is just a frozen lobster tail.

Grilled lobster is the way to go. I like to grill lobster tails with steaks. A little melted butter with some fresh herbs and lemon juice is all you need for something that compliments steaks very well.

I haven't had it, but I have heard good things about the lobster at Ruffino's when they offer it.

One of the few things I miss about living in Miami. We would catch them at night and be cooking lobster and drinking beer when the sun came up.

Then you need to give him the lobster guy's email and save them money...

I'm not trying to rip the tail off of a live animal. We talking about live lobsters up in here fool.
