They sure are, but they're just dogs. They get eaten in Asian countries and left on the side of the road in America when they're hit by cars.

Do you guys ever think about what might have been? Vick took the Falcons to a Superbowl game while Matt Ryan has only managed to win one playoff game since replacing him.

Vick got cut down in his prime but I personally would have liked to have seen his career play out. It's a very underrated, "what would have been" story.

He's an example of the American redemption story and why we are the land of second chances

It's interesting to see his career wind down. He seems to be at peace with himself and his life. He's been to heaven to hell and then back to heaven, and he truly seems like a changed man and a humbled man. He's willingly accepted a backup role, which would have seemed to be odd 7-8 years ago, but he seems to have realized that his gift and football is a privilege, and he seems hell bent on not squandering it again.

Can you imagine if a guy with his elusiveness and speed dedicated himself to being a pocket QB?

Vick himself has said that he didn't put enough work in while with the Falcons .

That being said, I don't agree with the pocket QB premise. Vick's strength was his elusiveness and speed. If he would have focused on dissecting defense while on the move he would have been unbeatable.

I'm not saying don't run. Clearly that's his strength. But just imagine how dominant he would have been if he had mastered the pocket passing game. Having to defend the run and pass equally would have been a nightmare for defenses.

Steve Young described it better than I'll ever be able to.

Why people applaud others who do normal arse shite, I will never know.

SS, do you feel you deserve a shite ton of admiration and respect for how you've turned out in life? If the answer to that is no then do you feel you'd deserve it if you were smashing dogs' skulls or drowning them or electrocuting them in your younger life?

What?

He had/has an arm that might be top 5 all time when considering arm strength and quickness of release. Running is a pretty natural thing. He has it. Spend time dissecting defenses on the run? What?

He would have been unstoppable if he was a better pocket passer and ran smart. Think Wilson but 5x better.

Steve Young did a much better job explaining than either us. I liked his use of the term "triple threat" QB which is what I was attempting to allude to

A lot of times it come across as people saying guys like Vick, RGII, Cam ect should play only from the pocket which I think would be setting them up for failure. To suddenly tell them stand in the pocket and throw bombs is not realistic IMO especially if they've played in a run-first system since high school. Manning and Brady have had decades to develop their game and comparing them to QB's making the transition is unfair.

Imagine if Cam was allowed to sit and learn an NFL system the way Aaron Rodgers or even Brady did? Cam broke Mannings Rookie records, he can throw the ball but today's QB's are expected to contribute immediately leaving little time to truly develop. The skills they are expected to have must be taught and no one has the time to invest in teaching them.

I won't deny nor edit my post. I thought Vick made a Super Bowl appearance while with the Falcons. Apparently I was wrong

Some of the responses in this thread, wow.

-Vick filed chapter 11 bankruptcy instead of chap 7 when he did not have to
-Vick lived on $300k a year (from a $40+ mil salary) to pay back his 18 million dollar debt when he did not have to
-Vick could have paid 20 cents on the dollar for his debt, but instead decided to pay off the whole amount when he did not have to
-Vick has continued to donate to animal shelters way past the news cycle of the dog abuse incidents when he did not have to

In a society where many people are not willing to take responsibility for their actions and leaves them for others to pay (who do you think creditors pass on the bill to?), here is someone who is willing to pay back in full.

I bet some of you criticizing Vick are the same ones who illegally download movies. Easy to be sanctimonious on the internet.

Vick did 2 years for killing dogs.

At the same time, Donte Stallworth was driving drunk and killed a pedestrian. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, serving only 24 days in prison.

To be fair the guy walked out in front of his car on a busy highway and probably would have been killed even if he had been sober.

Yea... But Vick took the fall for everything that happened at his house, most occured when he wasn't even there.

Still, Stallworth was drinking and driving and killed someone.

You don't think Stallworth took the fall? You should Google the story of the aftermath of his accident
