Which team would you rather have?

A)
Total Offense: 450 ypg
Rushing: 175 ypg
Passing: 275 ypg
Points: 35 ppg

Total Defense: 350 ypg
Rushing: 150 ypg
Passing: 200 ypg
Points: 25 ppg

B)
Total Offense: 350 ypg
Rushing: 200 ypg
Passing: 150 ypg
Scoring: 24 ppg

Total Defense: 250 ypg
Rushing: 100 ypg
Passing: 150 ypg
Scoring: 14 ppg

I'd rather have B. I want a good offense as much as anyone here, but a stronger defense gives you a better chance to win.

Team A
- outscores opponents by 40%
- out gains opponents by less than 30%

Team B
- outscores opponents by over 70%
- out gains opponents by 40%

I'll gladly take B over A

Why can't we have "C"?

C)
Total Offense: 450 ypg
Rushing: 175 ypg
Passing: 275 ypg
Points: 35 ppg

Total Defense: 250 ypg
Rushing: 100 ypg
Passing: 150 ypg
Scoring: 14 ppg

If C isn't an option then B it is.

A. If you score 35 and lose something is really wrong

I love the hypocrisy from the fellow Ranters. Not you specifically, but idiots like Will Blackwell who want Texas Tech as our head coach when the dude scores 50 every week and loses 5 games.

It happens all the time in college football. It's why tcu isn't in the college football playoff

A is basically the 2013 LSU team 9-3
B is basically the 2014 LSU team 8-4

While both teams were frustrating to watch a times, for different reasons, this season was miserable compared to last season.

BTW the 3 best seasons under Miles have also been his 3 best scoring offenses(based on ppg ranking of that season).

That's not surprising since LSU is always near the top in defense aside from '13 and '08

For years the adage "defense wins championships" was the prevailing wisdom. In todays college gane it could just as well be "the last team with the ball wins."

Last year the defense was actually ranked 21 in scoring, unlike '08 when it was 65th.
