Nope, and I rarely ever answer unknown numbers unless I am expecting something

If its during the time of year I get a lot of reference requests I will. I don't want someone to not get a job just because I didn't answer.

I do at work because I have to. They come through a recorded line and pop up in a window as a missed call.

That's different. We're talking missed call on your personal cell phone from a number you don't know.

I avoid most phone calls - it's a Social Anxiety Disorder thing. Unless I know who the caller is or I'm expecting an important phone call from an unfamiliar number, I don't answer. Drives my wife nuts. So if I miss a call, unless it's from family, no call back is coming from me - if it's that important they'll call back.

it's funny how the dynamics have changed 100%.

Now that we have a multitude of ways to connect with each other, calling someone back seems almost counterintuitive. Unproductive if you will.

15 years ago, I would always do it.

Now, I'm at the point, why are you even calling me? Send me an email, and it will save us both 5 minutes of our day.

Scruffy will on the occasions that it is someone calling a client from a business and they left a voice mail.

Otherwise, no.

Never.

There's this thing called "voicemail".

Use it if you want me to maybe call you back.

I typically get my mistress to do it for me.

No. I always assume it's someone trying to make me do work.

Isn't it a pretty big scam now where you'll get calls from a foreign country that look like domestic numbers, and when you call back you'll get fricked paying like 5 bucks a minute or something?

Sometimes. If it's during work hours and it's a local area code then it is most likely a client of mine. After work I don't call back.

I call back because my work phone and personal phone are one and the same.

years ago before the age of cell phones, my 10 year old nephew got left behind in Biloxi after a school field trip. He called his parents from a pay phone. They did have caller ID but didn't recognize the number so they didn't answer. My sister decided to call the number back and her son answered. no telling what would have happened had they not called back.

This is where my fear comes from.
