Friend of mine didn't do so hot in a particular class. What are the sure fire methods to get the teacher to bump that shite up a letter?

Have their parents go confront the professor.

If your friend attended every class and turned in all assignments on time, a lot of professors will be willing to adjust a grade accordingly. But your friend will have to bring it up and to the attention of the professor. If they have a high GPA and are in fear of lowering it - that could also be used in the conversation.
Good luck.

This may actually work. Maybe convince them you hacked into their iCloud and stole their nudes. Good work, sir

I once asked a professor at LSU to reconsider a C grade she gave me on a term paper. She agreed to reread it. A few days later she asked me to stay after in class and she told me she reread it and dropped the grade to a D.

From the info I gathered, Everything was completed and turned in on time. I don't think a few tears would hurt the cause either. They're meeting right now I think

I begged a teacher to change an F to a D, and out of pity she did

I called a professor a cocksucker and got a D changed to an F.

I had a teacher call me into his office the day before grades were due to ask me why I hadn't turned in a single project all year and that he couldn't pass me. I blew up because I had done every assignment that semester and turned them in. He asked me if I had copies of the assignment, but I didn't because they were all handouts he had given us. What was I supposed to do? Xerox them all before turning them in and keep a record? Anyways, he was going to fail me and I was going to appeal. I check my grades the next day and I had a B. Don't know what happened. Maybe he didn't feel like going through an appeal. I don't know.

Needed an 86 on a final to get an A, got a 82. Went to her office and said "Bitch, if you don't give me that A I'm going to eat your children." Got my semester grades and had a D in the class. She gave me a 0 on the final.

As someone who has to deal with this from the other side and absolutely hates grade chiselling:
1) Be extremely respectful. No one likes dealing with an entitled student who did poor in a class and now wants a re-do. If they come off entitled its very easy to just shut them down and tell them to retake the course
2) Hopefully she attended most classes and was able to build some rapport with the prof during the year. This will help when talking with them.
3) Do any extra credit/assignments they ask. Most will not want to mark anything new close to the holidays so that may play into her favour.
4) Don't push it. They aren't changing a C to an A. They might bump an F or D+ to a C- though. Usually the higher up the grades are, the less likely you will get it changed. B+ to an A? Forget it, it's a slap in the face to people who worked to receive an A. Same time I don't overly like failing anyone.
5) Don't bring up how this course is going to ruin your GPA for Med School/Law School whatever. If you want a better grade you should have put in the work to get one. This ties into the entitlement of point 1.

I'm quick to anger when things like this occur to me. I wouldn't have fared well in there.

Once I had a mix up at a clinical rotation where the director grading me gave me an A and told my supervisor that I deserved an A, but the numbers that she gave on the rubric worked out to a B. I brought this to the attention of my supervisor and she said that I could work it out with the director and try to get my grade changed. I said frick it, graduation was in 16 days and the difference between an A and a B was irrelevant to me at the time. Looking back, I probably should have fought for it, but it really didn't make a difference.
CSB, unless you're failing don't worry too much about it.
