Does Junior get the contract bump if his 12th sack comes in playoffs?

Since Galette's contract bumps up $7 M if he gets to 12 sacks and he currently sits at 9, what happens if the Saints make the playoffs and he finishes the season with only 11, and then gets the 12th in a playoff game?

this is correct... remember during Brees' consecutive games w/ a TD pass streak... playoff games were not counted to it... so stats are split between regular season and playoffs

The shitstorm that would cause

His interior line has probably cost him a lot of money

If the Bucs are smart, they lay down for him like Favre

This.

He has the last two regular season games to get there.

I want to watch that 12th sack knowing about the bump. The celebration will probably be so "seemingly" overblown. shite, if he is sitting on 11 late in the game, he will turn into an animal.

I'd make a deal with him if I were the opposing OT

As long as the sack(s) actually helps us win, I hope he get 5 more in the next 2 games. If we lose, I hope his arse gets to 11.5 as well.

A sack could never hurt our chances. Why would you not want a player on our team to get an incentive that doesnt have any negative implications? Thats petty and shows an oddly irrational thought process.

The negative implication is that it lowers our cap space, but in the case of an incentive like this it becomes a "win/win/lose" situation(player plays well and helps team/player is rewarded/ lose some cap). It's worth it, but there is a negative implication.

That all depends on if the league designated the incentive LTBE (likely to be earned) or NLTBE. If its the latter it does not count against the salary cap.

That's not how it works. If it's deemed likely to be earned it counts against the current cap year(and if it goes unearned it's credited towards next year's cap). If it's deemed unlikely to be earned(which is the case here), it gets added to next year's cap if it is earned.

Bottom line is it's added to the cap if he earns it no matter how it was labeled.
