LOL at Jindal obviously pandering to the religious right

Rick Perry did the same thing before the last election cycle and it worked out so well for him. I can't wait to watch Jindal finish dead last.

From my understanding people are upset because the prayer rally is being funded by a hate group, they aren't upset because people are praying.

Does anyone other than the SPLC categorize them as a hate group? Because if so

Protesting is a waste of valuable time IMO.

Yes according to the AFA, gay people and abortions are the culprit behind Katrina devastating New Orleans.

You would think if Katrina was caused by sin, it would be more related to sex out of wedlock and all the other bad shite that occurs in New Orleans/Louisiana at a much higher rate than homosexuality.

Quit acting like a nutjob. Nobody thinks they are extremist, etc.

The core group of this orginization probably gets off on spreading ignorance and fear.

Why are you getting your panties all knotted up and defending a group that thinks gays and abortions caused a destructive hurricane.

I think the last guy I heard making these claims while preaching on bourbon street ended up getting arrested for jerking off while watching kids play at a play ground. Was it Grant Storm I'm thinking of.

I saw that and laughed at that as well. Following such a terribly successful campaign's game plan will only bring good things.

I don't think they are a hate group, just a group of religious nutjobs looking to exert influence in politics.

quote:

The mission of the American Family Association is to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture, and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission.

PHILOSOPHICAL STATEMENT
The American Family Association believes that God has communicated absolute truth to mankind, and that all people are subject to the authority of God’s Word at all times. Therefore AFA believes that a culture based on biblical truth best serves the well-being of our nation and our families, in accordance with the vision of our founding documents; and that personal transformation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest agent of biblical change in any culture.

quote:

ACTION STATEMENT
The American Family Association acts to:

restrain evil by exposing the works of darkness
promote virtue by upholding in culture that which is right, true and good according to Scripture
convince individuals of sin and challenge them to seek Christ’s grace and forgiveness
motivate people to take a stand on cultural and moral issues at the local, state and national levels
encourage Christians to bear witness to the love of Jesus Christ as they live their lives before the world

Supposedly it was going to be put on a pamplet to be given out at the prayer rally or some shite like that. It was on their website, but was taken down last week after people started to bitch about the rally.

I don't mind of they use the facility. I don't mind the protesters. I reserve my right to think of this group and it's core followers as nut jobs.

just like Christians were outraged when an "atheist church" tried to rent a school auditorium in Lake Charles and threatened to protest

or when one of the members started getting death threats against him and his family in his mailbox from a "christian".

Oh wait, there was no outrage then. Kill the heathens. That'll teach them God's love.

I would have expected no less from our Rhodes scholar governor who performs exorcisms in his spare time.

Well I'm outraged. Haven't decided why yet, still trying to pick a side. But outraged nonetheless.

This issue is that it's being held at the PMAC, which is part of a public institution.

Also, the event is being is financed by the American Family Association,

so Religious groups aren't allowed to rent the pmac??? You do realize that is an extremely broad definition of "separation of church and state" right?
