We are still getting terrible spending bills and no stand against Obama like his executive amnesty and anyone who tries to speak out against it like Ted Cruz are getting slammed for not following the party

Boehner's spending bills have raised the debt 3.6 trillion dollars.

Nothing has changed or will change. If you actually think McConnell or Boehner will take a stand you are an idiot.

My last hope with the Republicans is that maybe they'll get their shite together once the new class is sworn in. I have been extremely disappointed since the election.

The new Senate hasn't convened yet. The GOP doesn't take control until January.

But you're right, nothing will change.

The Republicans have run against Obamacare since the day it was passed in 2009. They have threatened to overturn it, de-fund it, and scale it back. This spending bill fully funds Obamacare just as it was passed. Dozens of Republicans voted for a spending bill that fully funds the program they despise. Obama recently subverted the U.S. Constitution once again with his latest executive order allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S. and enjoy our wonderful welfare system. The Republicans were morally outraged and their response was to fund Obama’s executive order to the tune of $2.5 billion. There’s $948 million for the Department of Health and Human Service’s unaccompanied children program — an $80 million increase. The department also gets $14 million to help school districts absorbing new immigrant students. And the State Department gets $260 million to assist Central American countries from where of the immigrant children are coming.

What is it that people want out of this Senate again?

I just hope they slow the bleeding, which I'm confident they'll do.

I'm going to wait and actually give the new Congress a chance before I start prematurely griping about how nothing has changed while the incumbents are still in office.

You might want to wait until they are sworn in before you begin to attack them.

You are aware that the new Congress insn't sworn in until the 3rd of January, right?

But yeah, little will change. The GOP will be better positioned to complicate things for the President and perhaps wring greater concessions out of him, but it's impossible to govern from the Capitol. You'd need ironclad supermajorities in both houses, and even then the Exutive has pretty broad discretion in how laws are implemented (as we've seen).

Excellent post that explains the way that the government works - I think the founders would be pleased that the model is still holding up to some degree.

The only difference between the republicans and the democrats are the social issues that the big money groups don't GAS about other than their usefulness to distract the populace from the issues that actually matter.

Boehner/McConnell = Reid/Pelosi.

They are the same puppets. The republic is dead.

I live for this kind of bullshite.

I mean, ignore that Boehner/McConnell in the majority means no Obamacare, but hey, why let things like that get in the way of your idiotic Rush/Levin/Erickson narrative.

LOL at you not realizing the new Senate is not in session, this is the old one, ie the Democratic controlled one.

However, I do agree there won't be any major changes.

Everyone knows Yertle and Boehnhead are about as useful as teats on a bull.

We just hope they can limit some of the damage from Ogump/Pelousy/Dirty Harry. Even if it's purely out of spite.
