Looks like Ohio State's OC will be the next head coach at Houston. No word on whether or not he will coach in the playoffs.

Makes an uphill battle that much tougher

3rd string qb, Bama D, no OC

Dude hasn't taken 3rd team reps since Miller's injury. He's been the backup QB all year long, correct?

Bama D

Depends on which one shows up, tbh.

He's a very good coach, but that's Urb's offense. You'll be fine.

Didn't McElwain hang around for 1/09/12? I remember thinking all the short passes out of the gate against that LSU defense was the difference in the game.

For sure. Actually, Herman instituted a policy that Barrett took no snaps on Friday to rest his arm, so Jones got all the reps on Friday practices all season.

I think OSU has some matchups they like and can potentially take advantage of so I agree

Two points to this. Herman coached from the box b/c he didn't want his emotions to get in the way of a playcall. This was especially important in 2012 when OSU came back against Purdue with Guiton as QB. He called a play that Urban didn't want called, but Herman said that was the play call for the situation, so Meyer agreed

Second, Meyer over rode Herman on the 4th and 1 call in the B1G championship game call to keep with Miller instead of giving to Hyde. Obviously 20/20 vision looking back but just a couple of observations

Houston boards seem to think there will let him coach in the playoffs since they let Sumlin coach in his bowl game before he became HC.

I wonder if they would let Herman coach in the NCG if OSU beats Bama though. That's another 2 weeks and that leaves only about 2 weeks before recruiting ends. I wouldn't blame Houston at all if they want him now

Pelini coached LSU as DC in the 2007 BCS title game even though Nebraska hired him a month before...

at houston, per sources, tom herman plans to add major applewhite to staff.

And Herman will likely retain Gibbs at DC.

Staff shaping up nicely.

Would be a great hire if they make it. Gibbs coached the best UH defense in ages. It was the reason they were still competitive despite a mediocre at best offense.

I don't see why he'd take a HC position at this point.

Plus, Houston "aiming higher" than OSU's young, talented OC is a laugh riot-especially since Florida just hired CSU's head coach.

IMO, Foster was (and still is) the target after Muschamp....still no announcement of a raise/extension that he's staying at VT...

If NOT Foster, I have no clue...Chavis definitely stands out though IF Miles leaves and IF Chavis doesn't follow. Not holding out hope for that though.
