Early Saturday morning a tractor-trailer ran into 11 cars stopped on I-10 in Mississippi near the Louisiana border.

The crash took the lives of four people. Two men from Louisiana, and Randall Mark Wager, 49, and his daughter, 18-year-old Ariana Mary Wager, of Lucedale, Mississippi.

Ariana Wager was a freshman at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and a member of UL's Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

The organization reached out on their facebook page and posted a statement with her picture:

"Please keep the family & friends of Ari in your thoughts & prayers at this time as they not only lost sweet Ari, but also her father. She will forever hold a place in our hearts..." - Baptist Collegiate Ministry- UL Lafayette

The crash also injured 4 others who received non life-threatening injuries.

Reports from Mississippi Highway Patrol state the crash started when a pickup truck and its trailer overturned spilling debris on I-10 east about 10 miles from the Louisiana state line.

Traffic was backed for up for hours into Louisiana after police began detouring traffic. The wreck was cleared around 6:15 a.m.
How sad. And right before Christmas. Please keep this family in your thoughts/prayers.

How horrible. I take it they were just sitting in traffic and the 18 wheeler just crashed into them. Damn. Prayers sent to the family.

One of my greatest fears when coming to a complete standstill on the interstate.

Absolutely terrible. I wonder if the guy fell asleep at the wheel?

From what I've understood, there was a vehicle that crashed and the crash put debris on the road. The cars immediately following stopped but the 18-wheeler did not.

I'd say this implies that the 18-wheeler wasn't paying attention.

You should be scared of sitting still on the interstate. The scariest thing to work as a police officer is a wreck on the interstate. I have seen cop cars crushed by drivers not paying attention at a wreck scene. I also worked a wreck where a whole family was killed when they broke down on the side of the interstate and was waiting for help. A Uhaul truck plowed into their car killing everyone. I, along with several other officers, have come close to being hit on the interstate. Very scary place to be when you are sitting still.

Prayers sent to all the families involved in this.

yeah there was a pickup pulling a trailer full of electronics that lost control and flipped, the other cars behind it stopped, but the 18 wheeler couldnt stop in time.

Happened to my mom and sister driving through Shreveport years ago. They were at a complete standstill on the interstate and a vehicle behind them never stopped. No serious injuries, totaled her Acura and threw there luggage across the interstate.

One of the main reasons I will NEVER sit in my patrol car on the interstate.

This happened to me on Nichlson when I was in college. Girl ran into the back of me doing about 50 mph, I was at a dead stop. To this day I hate she I come to a dead stop in traffic with no one behind me.

I had a tire totally shred on the interstate last year. The next exit was around 6 miles up the road so I had to change it on the shoulder. Absolutely terrifying. That thought of someone not paying attention was always in my mind.
