Scruffy is right and wrong. When I was a young Pup Louisianans actually reveled in corruption, they were proud of it. That's what differentiated us from our neighbors, we didn't repudiate it, we wore it as a badge of honor. Part of the appeal of Earl Long and Edwin Edwards was their unapologetic thumbing their nose at the law. Like a Banana Republic we liked the sheer audacity of The Strongman and viewed it as entertainment.
Now, like other places, we largely condemn it and prefer good government. We have far, far less tolerance for corrupt politicians now then we did a generation ago.

Yep and it's only gotten worse. They're just more organized and better at skirting the law now. NJ and Chicago are the other two parts of the country that are known for it.

Yeah frick them people. They have a lot of nerve talking about us. The only reason we may exceed them in corruption is that Alabama has nothing to steal. Its hard to comprehend how many Alabama people are working here in Louisiana. Its because their is nothing in Alabama. They need to shut up and realize where their paychecks are coming from.

No, it hasn't. Were you even around for the Edwards years?
At one point, we had our choice between David Duke and Edwin Edwards for governor. That was a vastly lower point than where we are now.

Congrats on being better than Alabama I guess.

Pretty sure this perception started with Huey Long.

People around the country are envious of La. . We thrive in natural resources, entertainment, and diversity of our people. If you aren't Louisiana Proud you are not, a true Louisianian.
Don't despair, rejoice in one of the richest cultures in America.

Yea, that's what defines a Louisianian.
I've lived here my entire life. I love the state.
The problem is our government and the citizenry.

John Archibald is a moron. Please stop giving him attention.
Could we just ban al.com articles altogether? Only hacks seem to work for Alabama Media Group. And plagiarists.
