This morning, we come to you bearing a holiday gift in the form of a scoop. According to our sources, a meeting with executives from Marvel and Sony is to be held in January at Pinewood Studios, where the Avengers, along with numerous other popular movies, has been filming. This meeting of the minds will include Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. We don’t have a ton of details, but we should have some “good news” come February, or at the very latest, just before the release of Age of Ultron in May, which makes a little more sense.

One plan, according to the source, is that Marvel would include an after-credits stinger that would center on Spider-Man. As we can expect, filming for Captain America: Civil War is gearing up for a February/March start, so the timing would certainly fit to get something like this filmed. Our source tells us they are prepping 3 stages at Pinewood in anticipation of the Cap 3 project.

It appears that Feige is very pleased with the direction things are going in regards to a deal with Sony. As we know, Joe and Anthony Russo will be directing the third Captain America film, but they also plan on directing The Gray Man for Sony, before going on to (reportedly) direct Avengers: Infinity War. The plan, according to our insider, is that the Russo Brothers would then tackle a new Spider-Man trilogy, taking on directing and writing tasks. They don’t have anyone cast yet, but they certainly have a list of potentials they are going over once the deal is done.

Kevin Feige is very adamant about one thing: He wants Avi Arad out and Marvel seems to be backing him on this. Should this deal happen, Arad will be nowhere near the Spider-Man movies. However, Pascal and other Sony execs feel he’s a crucial part of the previous Spidey films and feel he needs to stick around.

Getting rid of Arad would be soooooo good for the franchise. That dude straight sucks and is a vampire squid that does nothing but screw shite up with his meddling.

Latino Review is saying the deal has gone through.

Nothing has been confirmed, but Latino Review is reporting that “the Sony deal went through” and that, while it’s too late for Spider-Man to appear in ‘Civil War’ as anything other than a post-credits scene cameo, he would appear in the first installment of ‘Infinity War’. The rest of their report is filled with some MAJOR spoilers, we’ll issue a very sizable warning right now for anyone who doesn’t want to know the events of ‘Civil War’, ‘Thor 3’ and ‘Infinity War’.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn't need Spider-Man holding them back.

Garfield is too good of an actor to let too far away.

If I were Feige-I'd give him a different role while Spidey is redone(unless they are going for Adult Spider-Man at this point, which I am fine with).

Richard Ryder -Nova
Brian Braddock -Captain Britain
Dane Whitman- Black Knight

It's why Lazenby wasn't asked back as Bond. Blew off promotion, and then showed up with long hair and a beard for no reason other than to not look like James Bond.

Truth.

He was cool in the 90s with cartoons (he ran IM, SM and X-Men I believe), but his stint for Marvel with Sony and other projects has blown. And most of the time they have the right pieces, but the execution and/or final product are just completely uneven.

With that said, the MCU would be fine without Spider-Man. I don't a Wolverine thing going on. However, this is a big play for post-IW MCU which is where Marvel will have problems. You're looking at losing Evans, and at least 2-3 others. Most likely more. Spider-Man will be a big deal with the Inhumans.

Avengers don't need Spider-Man but it would still be huge if Marvel attained him, it would mean good things for the character and franchise, which has been tightening the noose since Spidey 2.
