Is Gary Busey really crazy, or is it an act?

I just saw him on the Amazon commercial and he was doing his crazy schtick again like he always does. He is really good at it. Is it real or is it just his act?

I saw an episode of wife swap with him. Nobody can fake that kind of crazy. His wife/girlfriend is insane as well. You'd have to be to tolerate him.

He does have brain damage issues following his accident. I also believe he uses the persona, to one degree or another, for work.

Guy got in a motorcycle accident and had damage to the part of the brain that controls inhibitions apparently.

Anybody remember that TV show he had where they followed him around while he abused some guy?

It's a real thing. I grew up and went to college with a guy whose first collegiate year was spent at West Point, where he slipped off and fell from a tall log-climbing obstacle during winter and landed upon his head. He claims that when he awakened in the hospital he had no memory of his former personality. Thus, he says, he "chose" his new personality to be as zany as possible. According to sources close to his parents, his wild new personality was really the result of brain damage. Much like what has been suggested here re: Gary Busey, people who know the guy I am talking about suspect that he plays up the persona for effect. It's hard to tell where the brain damage ends and the conscious choice to play the "crazy guy" role begins.

There can be personality change following organic brain damage. The change can be of varying amounts, depending on the localization of lesions and other such factors. Of course, individuals who are more predisposed to risk-taking behaviors premorbidly are more likely to obtain brain damage.

Is that from some reality show? What's it called? Was that Lil Jon?

Busey is a big Cowboys fan. He sat in the radio press box for a game in the late 80's when I was working games. Gave him a book of matches when he asked for a light. To this day I regret not saying, "Sure Mr. Joshua."

I would totally hang out with Gary Busey. frick Meatloaf, all he wants to talk about is Rocky Horror...which I love but come on. He's like Willy Wiggins or Will Wheaton or something.
I'll talk aliens and conspiracy theories all night with crazy Busey.
