So, I usually just pick up whatever academy brand or hanes socks to wear with my boots. And they're usually more holy than a nun within months. I'm no squach, I keep my nails cut... I just tear though them. Maybe I'm too much of a man and can't be tamed.

Either way, what's your go-to sock brand that lasts?

I wear regular ankle socks and muck boots. If I wear anything heavier my feet sweat and freeze.

I get the lifetime warranty ones from bass pro, i think redhead.. Normally $10, sometimes on sale for $5. Dont need receipt either, if they ever wear out just take back in and they give you a new pair. Good socks

I have been wearing the smart wool socks for a couple of years now. They hold up very well. Sierra trading Post normally has seconds at a reduced price ..

Motocross socks work well with waders or rubber boots in my experience.

Can you buy smart wool socks in certain stores or online only?

I definitely saw them at all the ski places last year in CO. I can't recall if I saw them in masseys or backpacker or anything like that but they might. So, yea, it's not only online. Can't point you to retailers though

I want to buy a pair for ski trip this year to try out

REI and Backcountry.com both have them online. For a few dollars less try wigwam socks. I think they're just as good and is all I buy now.

For a better price check campmor.com and Sierra trading post.

STP also sells discounted Trekkers. All the fancy merino wool blends hold up equally well if you don't put them in the dryer.
