Buddy of mine was given a ticket because he had not called in to LDWF to get conformation number on a doe he killed two weeks ago.

They told us you have 7 days to call in and get confirmation number.

The bad thing is there is no spot on your deer tags to record this number.

I think it was a chicken shite ticket to give someone.

so your friend didnt do his due diligence and your upset he got ticketed for not doing so?

That sound about right?

I would venture to say that less than 50% of deer kills in LA are properly reported.

Probably because a tag was missing, and he probably put it in the report card on the license???
Mine may be different though because it is a native non-res license.
I write the confirmation # on the back of the report card.

It is stupid that they quit putting the words confirmation number by the blank for it. The way the tag reads now is the blanks are for month/date not date/confirmation number

Regardless, it's tough to be mad at anyone other than yourself if you get ticketed for something that is very clearly prescribed in the regs.

WLF uses the reported kill information as a way to determine the hunting seasons and zones and long term it could dictate numbers and sex of deer legal to harvest. It's one thing to be upset about green jeans being assholes, but I think you lose credibility when you complain about being ticketed for a clear violation of the hunting regulations and procedures you agreed to follow when you purchased your license and picked up your tags.

Don't bring logic into this discussion, Coco!

He was just trying to bitch about something.

As a cop once told me, if I sit on the side of the highway ALL day, and choose to write zero tickets, what do you think my boss thinks I did all day?

Coco is dropping logic and reason all over the OB. See his post about public land hunting.
I have to say, I agree with everything you said in both threads.

So hypothetically if you post a kill over 7 days old are you going to get a ticket in the mail?

Blah blah and fricking blah.......we understand all that but to make it a 7 day cutoff is just them trying to make more money. All of the info you just stated could still be ascertained later during the season. How bout an online confirmation? Does it exist?

Yes. That was the basis of my question above. You can log kills online on the ldwf website

People don't report with a 7 day cutoff, what makes you think people will report after the season?
There is on online report. I used it this year. It took all of 3 minutes to get a confirmation #.

I may be wrong here, but I don't think you have to have your confirmation number as long as you actually called it in. I'm pretty sure old GJ can call and see that your kill was reported.

And about the online question, you can confirm your kill online.

i just read the regs.

it does not say that you must record the validation number anywhere.

it only states that you have 7 days to validate via phone or the website-

I have done this a few times over the last few years and I have never had a problem. I think they would rather you report it late than not at all. I reported mine on the internet and it gave me a confirmation number like normal.
