Can't forget about this retard crashing into the lsu lakes while hammered in his patrol car.

What's that... 7 officers that have been fired and/or criminally charged this year?

Well at least they are terminating the bad cops. Could be worse- they could just be sweeping all of this under the rug.

As long as they terminate the bad cops, what is there to complain about? Bad employees show up in just about every field. Just have to keep weeding them out.

Not going to open all those links... Anything about checkpoints?

I swear, I have NEVER been anywhere that cherishes their checkpoints as much as BRPD.

I don't know much about the BRPD but I do know if you're looking for solid police work DO NOT call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's ofice. Sid Gauteaux and his boys are useless.

They all do it, its nothing more than a money grab. OT for the officers and sucking up grant money by the dept.

The police force is just a symptom of a dying city. Probably 60 to 70 percent of the city is uninhabitable already, throw in a crocked police police and you have a Democrats dream come true.

Travel north of government street and you will see what I saw. I was amazed at just how bad much of Baton Rouge really is. Frankly much of the livable parts of BR are in the St. George/unincorporated area. There are very few places in BR that I would consider living in.

Don't know about 60-70% being uninhabitable.

I mean, I wouldn't live in 75%+ of BR, but thats different than being uninhabitable. Thats my preference on where to live and feel safe and clean.

That figures. Now you're just trying to justify your time sitting in your car everyday commuting to your job in an "uninhabitable city."

I work at home most days and when I do drive to the office, it is on Magazine St. in New Orleans. If it wasn't for the church that I attend in downtown BR I would almost never go there.

Why are you so defensive over what I said about BR? The truth is that BR has been going downhill for a long time. I stayed there and tried my best to help out but had to give in once I had children. I would be extremely happy to see BR reverse it's current trend but there is nothing coming out of Baton Rouge that makes me believe that this is going to happen.

Perhaps the term uninhabitable was not the correct word to use. That 60 to 70 percent represents areas with rampant crime, terrible schools, terrible or no shopping, run down or abandoned buildings etc. Obviously some people find it habitable but there is no way I would ever consider living and raising a family there.

I'd like to nominate all the BRPD who drive their cars outside the Parish down 1-10 or 1-12 at 81 to 87 mph weaving in and out of traffic after their shifts are over. LOVE those guys.

A friend's vehicle was broken into about a year ago. My friend's security cameras caught the guy's face and the stupid a-hole used his real info when making a purchase with a credit card he stole from my friend (and charged about $13k on it).

My friend took all of the information to EBRSO and they did... nothing. You've got a federal crime (due to the amount of money charged to his AMEX), the guy's face on video stealing the card, his name and home address... this is the lowest of low-hanging fruit. Their investigator told my friend that since he called AMEX and they are going to cover the charges, it's AMEX's charge to press.

The only reason EBRSO finally moved forward on this is because my friend has some rather hefty connections and his FB rant about it caught the attention of the right people.

Similar incident happened to a friend of mine at the Manship YMCA. Truck was broken into and valuables taken. YMCA security cameras captured the crime, recorded the perpetrator's license plate number and even showed where the thief walked over and held a brief conversation with an YMCA employee before leaving.

That was nine months ago and there has been no attempt to even track down the criminal or talk to YMCA personnel. Friend says when she calls looking for an update on the investigation she's made to feel like she's bothering the people at the sheriff's office.

Sounds like she needs to have a sit-down with Chris Nakamoto followed up by an interview with someone from the Advocate. Get enough of these stories together and someone may be getting a very uncomfortable visit from 60 Minutes.
