this board truly has it for martin and i dont know why
its strange
after EVERY loss he is always the first one that people blame, even if he played well

One of my joys in life is watching premature game threads like this backfire hard

You realize this thread was during Sam Houston game?

WTF is wrong with this board?? Martin leads all scorers with 25, hits 10/15 from the field, is solid with his free throw shooting, makes slam dunks that ignites the team and the fans and you a-holes call him lazy.
Yes, he is not always as physically active as he could be, but like most young guys (yes young - he is only a soph), he is still learning. He knows that and stayed this year because he felt he was not yet ready for the NBA.
We better hope he stays another year as he continues to improve and feel blessed we have a guy with such talent!
Stay on his back and see how quickly he "gets out of Dodge after this year".
Enough!!!!

Wtf? Because I said he needs to be better with his fg % and he's a liability defensively? Why exactly are you so butthurt? I'm sorry I don't think going 5/13 then 6/10 from the line for 18 points isn't that great for a 6'10 player who wants to go to the nba. I'm just crazy. He played a great game offensively tonight, this was a game he needed to step up and did. I give praise when needed.
At least I don't think a player HAS to shoot 45% from 3's for our team to be successful.
You linked a thread saying that after 6 games you predicted they would go 9-9 in the SEC. Mr. Optimistic

just calling a spade a spade brah
i said Martin has been awesome this year but sometimes he's head isn't in the game…you said

Also, Martin has not been terrific. He gets all his points at the FT line. He had a 6'1 player guarding him and he hit 2 3's and had a tip in...the rest were ft's. It's a joke if he declares for the league.
reads to me like you think he's been average.
and oh boy you got me on the 45% comment even though I said in the same thread I was wrong about that!!
and give me a break, after 6 games we looked like the same mediocre team we have been for the last 3 years…consistently average….I'm as happy as anyone we have turned it around but let's not act like 9-9 is still out of the realm of possibilities for this year.

Well, judging by your 45% comment, you thinking a guy is awesome doesn't say much. You didn't say you were wrong until everyone criticized you. If you think going 3 for 9 against Sam Houston State is awesome then I'm literally speechless.
I love Martin and took up for him so much last year, but he is not remotely close to NBA ready right now...and that's my point. That's what you're not comprehending. If he wants to be an NBA player, he needs to play better...NBA players are the most elite players in the world. He does not fall into that category right now. Last night he was great and showed what he's capable of...but that's the problem isn't it? How many games like last night have we seen from him? He's had a few dominating performances, then some very lackadaisical. That's why I wouldn't call his play awesome because for every good game he has an average one. The main thing I've been impressed with was his rebounding efforts for most of the year. He's greatly improved there, but he still sucks on defense and I feel he isn't aggressive enough on offense.

Well to be fair I didn't know I was wrong about the 45%. I'm not a stat geek I just knew stringer hit 40% of his 3's and unfortunately Hornsby appears to be our only legit outside threat so I unfairly asked him to be the best in the country.
But regardless Martin averaging 16/9 has been huge for us. I think we can both agree he shows flashes of brilliance only to play dumb other times. I don't think ive seen a player commit more dumb fouls in the back court.
I'm still very happy with his play this year I think he could be scary come February.

This thread was started during the SHS game and Martin was terrible. He was 6 inches taller than his opponent and couldnt score or rebound. He was much better last night.I'm waiting for the game where he and Mickey both play up to their ability at the same time.
