One of our fine governmental agencies is spending our tax dollars to "repair" Old Perkins Rd, between Blue Bayou and Bayou Manchac.

Cleverly, doing the work at night. I saw a Barber Bros truck on the site this morning.

They have managed to take a perfectly drivable road and install moguls in less than a week of night's work.

I think this is state hwy 427, so am I right to assume this is a project is a responsibility of LA DOTD?

Maybe search the DOTD project page? Oh, here's what it says "Caution: Page Under Maintenance. Please check later. "

EDIT: I'm told this is called Perkins Rd East

I wonder if what they're laying is a temp fix or supposed to be the final product?

If they're planning on a repave, they're probably filling in potholes before they plane everything down. That would give them a level surface. If they just drop asphalt over what's there, the weak spots will remain, and the potholes will be back in a few months.
If there isn't already, there really should be a weight limit on that road. Large trucks should be directed down Highland to Airline.

Maybe that's what they're doing Shexter.

But they're doing 200' stretches, that's more than a pothole, huh?

I emailed DOTD. I'm sure they'll come back with their typical BS answer stating that "we know what they're doing, mind your own business... it's our money we're wrecking the road with"

Here's the link, but as of this moment their website is down: LA DOTD

I drove through it about 14 times last week. Cluster frick. The first night I was drinking a beer and thought it was a checkpoint.

It's Perkins East btw not old Perkins. Common error unless you're a pizza boy.

Eta many peeps don't realize it goes back to just Perkins at the AP line. Very odd

Go on hwy 73 and see the quality work they can produce. 3 years and counting and no end in sight. Frick barber brothers.

They've successfully fricked up this road in 1 week.

I'm more upset with DOTD allowing this BS. Using our money to mess up our roads.

Contractors are in the $ business and will get away with whatever their customer allows.

Complain Here

I might try to get Nakamoto to try embarrass their ineptness.

It's all about coming in low with a wink and a nudge, then getting change requests approved to screw/delay the project and line your pockets.
