The physicist whose groundbreaking work has tackled fundamental physics biggies like black holes, the Big Bang, and how time works, warned in an interview with BBC, that while our current “primitive forms” of artificial intelligence have been useful, at a more developed state, the technology can surpass humans and “spell the end of the human race.”
quote:

Basically, when it comes to the game of improving as a “species,” robots would win out over humans every time. While artificial intelligence technology can evolve at a rapid speed, Hawking reminds us that humans can only change as fast as biological evolution. It took almost five million years for our species just to stand up straight. Who knows how long until we develop laser beam eyes to take on enemy robot armies?

It really does seem like a lot of top minds have been warning us of this in recent years. Maybe he's just being paid to help market the next shitty Terminator movie.

Well Hawking uses a robot to talk, so of course the device is going to be spreading propaganda.

Good point. They might want to instill a sense of helplessness so we don't have the will to resist.

I don't buy it. What are AI programmers saying? Because I'm sure they know way more about it than Hawking does.

Not at all. Super intelligent physicist, but I'm not sure what his qualifications are to speak on AI.

Would it really be that hard to just hit the "Power Off" switch/button on these robots if they started trying any shite?

Is this a cry for help?

Anyone think that his "voice" and "communication" device may be acting independently of Hawking...?
