Does Christmas always involve a small twinge of sadness?

Friends and family gone, old gifts from people who are no longer in your life, etc.

I guess I choose to think about those that are in my life, and the good memories of those that I kille...those that are no longer in my life.

My family is having a great run at it this year.
Nobody dying, nobody died very recently, nobody sick.
ETA: watch me die in the next few days.

An aspect of reminiscing which entails a bit of bittersweetness I would say instead of sadness.

Yes, and it only gets worse as you get older. Welcome to adulthood.
Always for me. When I was 18 my best friend froze to death duck hunting on Christmas Eve. He was dating my first cousin and we were together when it was confirmed.

I'm always depressed around Christmas. I don't have much family now and what little I do have are more miserable than I am. I try to make it solely about my daughter and wife. Couldn't care less about the holiday, personally.

Christmas is always a bummer. Drinking helps.
