Might be the less educated in terms of formal education but probably one of the smartest in terms of value.

ETA:

The Milken Institute identified the metro area as one of the best-performing small cities, in terms of job creation and economic growth, a distinction normally reserved for better educated areas.

I guess places like Lake Providence and Golden Meadow don't rate as cities.

Is Golden Meadow poor or just really trashy? I always thought there was a ton of oil money there.

Sort of subjective to refer to them as "trashy", but it's mostly offshore hands and commercial fishermen...not a lot of degreed professionals hanging around town...if you need someone with a degree you drive up the bayou to Thibodaux which is at #7 so...

Probably 60% of my client base is in Houma/Thibodaux.
I meet young guys in their 20's that make over 125k all the time.
As much overtime as they want.
I get the occasional 300k+ guy that works in The Congo or China or elsewhere.
All barely HS grads. Definitely not "educated".
And housing is still cheap there.

These lists will be led primarily by towns with heavy immigrant populations for years (unless and until they start including Native American communities and reservations).
