How much blame should be placed on the WRs?

This is an issue that I'm sure has come up, but I haven't seen it discussed at large. While there were some early successes by the position group, and there is some top tier talent there, it seems they, as much as anyone, legitimately struggled through the latter half of the year.

Sure, it's easy to say that Jennings being back there didn't help them any, but the group did have some serious issues. They couldn't get open.

There were several times, that I recall, when Jennings would drop back and hold the ball for several seconds. It was frustrating, but you would often see that he had no one to throw the ball to. When guys would be open across the middle, like Trey, they would flat out drop the ball.

I'm not saying we'll be great next year, but giving a group of young receivers time to improve could be a major step in the right direction for the offense.

It just seemed like Dupre and Dural really struggled with press coverage.

VERY VERY little. Some drops but many many wide open WRs have been simply never even looked towards.

He maybe received a pass while he was wide open over the middle .5% of the time. Never have seen a player so wide open over the course of the season. He had what 3-4 drops?

All position groups will benefit from the extra bowl practices. There are a lot of nuances that come with playing WR. Once these guys figure it all out, they'll be more dynamic.

3-4 drops if you're getting only 5-6 opportunities isn't great.

He had one game to throw to Landry and Beckham, I know it was wet, but results were the same.

My thoughts exactly. Iowa did have one good corner, though. That still leaves at least one NFL-caliber receiver though, and Jennings still struggled.

Good QB's throw wide receivers open. You lead them well, have good timing routes, or throw it where only they can get it (i.e. back shoulder).

Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson would have shitty stats with this offense.

Stop listening to idiots on radio, and their opinion of offense.

One of the main reasons we loss to Bama IMO.

Blame for what? We had an 8-4 season. Seriously though, if you asked Quinn this question, HE would say that he is the reason that we lost the Bama game. at least 2 key drops on 3rd down in the 2nd half. If he catches those, who knows; maybe we are a two loss team in the field of 4 playoff system. To his defense, when you only get a few passes thrown your way per game, it's much harder to stay focused than if you were Cooper from Bama who has a pass his way every 5th play.

Without reading, I'll continue to state how awful their route running is. Sure, the QB play was horrid but they did nothing to help either QB out before or while the ball was in the air. Most of it comes from inexperience (both positions) and that's fine but you've got to place blame in both directions.

This should be the beginning and ending of this conversation. Jennings was just horrible. Hopefully Jennings can figure it out because I think that we have 2 more years of this.

There were some crucial drops that affected the season, and momentum in some games. Just got to get more reps, between QB's and WR's...

You mean that game where those 2 were trying to show off and catch one hander passes to compete with each other?

Didn't realize timing routes were unilateral and strictly on the QB to get it to the right place.

Not a defense. Is it a defense for our QBs they only throw the ball 20% of the time so its hard to stay focused?

If you have 3 qbs (at virtually any level) and at the end of the season the best one completes less than 50% of his pass attempts, it's all on the coaches.

Remember: these coaches recruited our QBs and WRs...so...it's bad coaching or bad recruiting. Either way, it's on Les and Cam.

Quinn has short arms every time he goes across the middle! I agree with the last post!
