]fricking ignorant arse selfish voters turned down a tax renewal that funds Live Oak sports district and right now they are limiting park access. Gates will close at 5:30 every day. No child sports for the 2015 year.
Built a brand new state of the art sports complex and now don't have enough money to keep it open.

Heard the supporters were very, very tepid in making folks aware it was out there and needed to pass.

Lots of folks wondering why they heard nothing.

Not an excuse but it appears they may get it taken care of fairly soon.

I know you won't respond but I have to ask. I know you read my post and saw nowhere that I said anything about raising taxes. Why would you respond with this statement with that sort of response?

Moved out of Watson a year and a half ago. Maybe this will make the area focus on more than just baseball. Sucked seeing athletes not playing more sports than one. Fwiw, I typically vote down every tax. Selfish, yes... oh well. That's how I

Got very detailed emails from my kids schools explaining what the renewal was, activities that would be ruined if the renewal did not pass.

All sports will be over. Football, baseball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading.
I hear there may be a special session next year to try to get the renewal again.

Hmmm.... Maybe if the godless heathens would close the park in honor of the Lord's Day, they'd have enough money to keep it open the rest of the time. At least that's what the folks in my wife's church (across the street) would say.

I say it's a bunch of narrow-minded, anti-tax "conservatives" who don't realize that government requires actual funding to operate. Stupid fricks.

Damn, we played a baseball tourney there this past summer....that's a really nice park.

Not as nice as Chappapeela, but still nice.

What does any of this have to do with recreational sports?

I wonder if a private investor might be interested or allowed to purchase/lease and run it. Between the baseball and softball in the summer time, there is a lot of money to be made.

Or they don't think this is something that government should be involved with

Over-mortgaged fricksticks in the AP did this as well under the guise of the plan being irresponsible to traffic and other priorities.

AP votes againts rec tax

The concessions are bidded out every year. It's so damn political how it's done that one guy pretty much gets it every year. The bids are not proposed to the lowest bidder. It's crazy.
Other than concessions the amount they charge for recreational sports pretty much breaks them even.

As far as I know the highschool field belongs to the school. I know they are planning on building a new field behind the new highschool real soon.

At least the high school wont be hung out to dry.

It still sucks though. I coached some tournaments there a couple years ago and it's a pretty nice park.
