The Big ten would have a heart attack and demand changes in the system. The world would have stopped 1) to bury Herbstreit ) The media loves the Big ten

If that was the case, the committee would have had the wrong 4 teams in the playoffs.

They got the right 4 in this time. If you have a problem with the means, that is fine, but he end result was correct.

Some of you idiots like to pull all of these hypotheticals out of your arse but never stop to think that LSU and quite a few other SEC schools would be given the same treatment if what you are saying about how they got in is true.

ESPN is the biggest fan of the SEC by monetary association and you want to say that the biggest sports news outlet doesn't have your back as well.

The committee just needs more Southerners! The Southerns aren't well represented! We all knew they were in trouble when Archie stepped down!

Baw!!!

Jeff Long, Chairman, AD at Arkansas.
Barry Alvarez, AD at Big Ten Wisconsin.
Lieutenant General Mike Gould, Former Superintendent at the Air Force Academy.
Pat Haden, AD at USC.
Tom Jernstedt, Former NCAA VP.
Oliver Luck, AD at West Virginia.
Tom Osborne, AD at Nebraska.
Dan Radakovich, AD at Clemson.
Condoleeza Rice, Stanford Professor and Secretary of State.
Mike Tranghese, Former Commissioner of Big East.
Steve Wieberg, USA Today.
Tyrone Willingham, Coach at Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington.

He was referencing their birthplace and where they grew up, not where they worked.

And West Virginia has more in common with the north than the south.

The problem with humans is that they have short memories. If Ohio State's 59-0 win over Wisconsin had happened in September and its overtime win over Penn State had happened Saturday, they would have gotten left out.

You are going to ignore that OSU would have probably been higher coming in to the last week if that 59-0 win happened earlier in the season.

As they probably should have. Do we want the best 4 teams from the beginning of the season or the best 4 now? Teams do improve (some decline) throughout the season.

The Ohio State guy is right here.

The SEC would get the same treatment in the given situation (or at least certain teams in the SEC).

The committee got the 4 correct, so if TCU was put in at 4 then Ohio State could have certainly had a right to complain.

Ohio State has played well enough to get in, no doubt. My question is what if they were left out. The Big ten would be going nuts nuts. and if ND was close they would always be there.

Who would give Alabama the best game between TCU and Ohio State?

If you looked in a clairvoyant manner TCU matches up against Alabama much better than the trumped up Northern team.

The Big 10 bought that 4th slot make no bones about it.

I doubt a one loss SEC team would be ranked 5th, or lower, going into the SECCG. Your hypothetical would be more likely if you were discussing a second one loss SEC non-division winner. The Selection Committee didn't have that situation thanks to Ole Miss beating Mississippi State. If Mississippi State had beaten Ole Miss it would have been interesting to see how the Selection Committee would have handled an idle Mississippi State, who would have been in the Top 4, in relation to Ohio State, TCU and Baylor.

No, if you lose to 6-6 Vtech at home by 2 TDs, you no longer control your own destindy and you're at comittee's mercy.

It wouldn't have mattered where they were ranked. TCU was ranked #3 and dominated a weak opponent and got dropped, so how do you think the Committee would have reacted if Ohio State struggled with a weak opponent?

I we came in to the last week ranked 4 we very well could have stayed in. Hell we might have even been at 3. Hypotheticals are fun.
