It happened right behind me on the way to work. I taught the deceased teen and work closely with the older sister. Very tragic.

So the driver survived but a back seat passenger was killed? Not to be disrespectful, but how does that happen in a head-on collision?

Was the Eastbound car passing someone as they crossed over 10?

Man I drive those roads about 15 hours a week delivering pizza and not a shift goes by I don't think about how close we are to something catastrophic/tragic EVERY day.

Nothing has been confirmed but rumors are that black car saw someone turning right in front of him and swerved into red cars lane to avoid having to stop. Could just be hearsay but that's what is being reported.

One possibility I have seen before is one car tries to avoid the other exposing the side of that car to the other oncoming car. If that hit is drivers door or farther back the back seat driver's side is the worst place to be. As mentioned before seat belts play a big part too.
