Yes, got laid off by Sperry. Kinda crushing at the time.

Put me in a position to be very successful later in life.

Often times, looking back, the worst situations are blessings in disguise. Have faith.

I'm in a shite situation at the moment, trying to turn things around.

Edit: going to bookmark so I can come back in a year or so when things are awesome

I wouldn't change any of the shitty things that have happened to me because I wouldnt be the person I am today without them. So they're all blessing in that sense

My parents when their house burned down. It was stressful to them losing everything BUT....they were able to use insurance money to get the hell out of a really bad part of BR. Otherwise they would still be living there.

Sure have buddy.

A few years ago, I took a chance and left a great company to go to a field that I really thought I would be interested in.

Turns out that I was, and that I was really good at it. Like "this is my passion good." But I worked for and with some of the worst people on this planet. The President of the organization was recently arrested on bribery charges. All of that trickled down and made for a really bad, insecure work environment. Lies, deceit. You name it.

I was laid off in November of 2011 while my boss and a couple of colleagues were looking a new expensive Steelcase office furniture. It took about six months, but I ended up in a better, more satisfying job where I get to look down on those idiots.

Matter of fact, I received a resume from one of them recently. I was halfway tempted to call them in for an interview just so I could see the "Oh shite" look on their face when they realized they were interviewing with me.

Yes, I was bound up for four or five days. Had an utter shite, though. What a blessing.

yep, got laid off from work and couldn't find another decent job, so I went to school to pass the time...

ended up getting an engineering degree and life is a hell of a lot better than it ever would have been if that hadn't happened..

A couple weeks before Christmas several years ago I was waiting in line at a store trying to buy a gift or two. I was just sort of going through the motions of Christmas and wasn't really feeling the true meaning or spirit of it.

Anyway, there was a kid in line in front of me trying to buy some shoes for his dying mother but he didn't have enough money. I gave him the money for the shoes and realized that his horrible situation was part of God's plan to teach me a lesson about the true meaning of Christmas, and I left feeling pretty good about myself.

Why'd she need new shoes if she was dying?
