I'm struggling today. I drank way too much yesterday and I don't recall eating except at breakfast.

Friday after work, I wanted some oysters. I ran over to Peche with the little lady. Peche will never get old. I grabbed a special old fashion and waited for a spot at the oyster bar. It was good, but a little sweet.

While we were waiting, a table came open and we were sat. While at the bar, I decided what I wanted to eat. I got a dozen, tuna crudo, and scallops. I also go a complimentary tuna dip and drink.

I was excited to see cobia collar on the menu. But it was 86'd by 6:30. The oysters and tuna were delicious. The scallops stole the show. The richness and fruit were outstanding.

After dinner, we headed Uptown for drinks. We attempted to go to the Columns, but they were closed for a private event. We walked to Fat Harry's. They had several games on and it was fine. But what has happened to this place? All the bartenders were nerds. After a couple rounds, we headed home.

I awoke early on Saturday to bring my car to the dealership for an inspection. I then headed to my parents to wait until it was done. I had to sit through the movie Frozen with my niece. It couldn't get over fast enough. Around 11, I had to get out of there. I took my mom to have lunch at Phil's Marina Cafe. I always get the same thing there, the shrimp special. It's 24 fried shrimp and fries. It always satisfies. My mom got fried oysters on a bun,

I then picked up my car and headed Uptown to watch the SEC Championship and some football. Here's me toasting to the legendary Verne.

We had reservations at Sanchez before the Usher concert. This was my first time here, and I was looking forward to it. By this time of day, I was pretty drunk. We got there a little early and grabbed drinks at the bar. She got the margarita and I got some bourbon drink. They were both great.

The mural is nice, but not as nice as Taco Tico's.

We were sat and given complimentary chips and salsa. There was a regular version and a poblano version. The poblano was great. The regular was tasty but lacked heat. I told the waiter, and he grabbed some habanero salsa from the back. It was my favorite.

The lady ordered guacamole and carne asada tacos. I got tuna tostadas, queso fundigo, and sopes. The sopes were very delicious and my favorite dish. I prefered it without the rice cake. The tuna tostada was fine, I just wish the fish was cooler.

After dinner, we ran to the Little Gem Saloon for cocktails before the show. I ordered a pecan old fashion and watch Saban give his interview after the win.

We then headed to the concert. Usher always puts on a show. We grabbed a picture with him.

We then ran to the suite. They had cupcakes, sandwiches and free booze.

I'm pretty sure I sat behind a poster.

I was disturbed by the opening act. I wasn't sure of his name, but I'm pretty sure I saw his pubes.

The show was fun, and the tunes were amazing. I grabbed a few dances with the lady working the suite. She was great.

After the show, we cabbed home. I woke up drunk and headed to mass.

I then had to meet some friends at Willy's. I love that bar. Every walk of life can be found in there. I even met an Asian poster.

I grabbed a bacon cheeseburger burrito. It was good but needed more bacon.

I also grabbed about 3 doubles of Beam and a couple of Fireball shots. On the walk, I discovered a new bar.

When I got to the dome, I grabbed some Beam and took a seat to watch that abysmal performance.

I got another one and left at half. I went to Lafitte's with my buddy and lost memory of what happened from there. I cabbed home some time and awoke on my couch around 8.

I hadn't eaten since 10 am. My body was struggling when I woke up this morning. I grabbed this bean and cheese burrito, and I hope it helps me fight on.

Stay fat, my friends.

I finally had JS this past Friday before the PBS\Uhigh game... I really enjoyed it. Its pretty cheap besides the top shelf pitcher of margarita for $50.00 bucks.

I didn't even make it to half. Game sucked.

Nice rewind though.

Still want to try Sanchez.

Was there anything in your marrow that wasn't that powdery stuff? Because you could have blown on my bone and all of the powder crap flown off and had an empty bone.

Not a single taste of marrow.

Sopes themselves were okay, but the cake tasted like a state fair funnel cake, and I had something VERY similar at Baru Saturday night that looked the same and tasted a million times better.

Was on a corn cake. Had pork belly as well as pulled pork, and had black beans between the two corn cakes.

Actually weird how alike they look..

Also, chips and salsa I had did not have any plantains. I was wondering what someone was talking about last night when they mentioned that to me.

Too bad Peche was out of the collars :( I've been wanting to try them as well, and have yet to go on a day when they have them.

I actually liked them. I was a little to full to really be a good judge though. I have them leftover for my lunch today because Yeezy didn't want to look at them, so I'll let you know.

Like I told Yeezy yesterday going to Ballsack on a game day wasn't the best time given y'all's past dissapointment.

I don't recall having any. There was a lot of marrow in the bone.

In what way? I mean, MAYBE half of the place was full. Plenty of open seats.

The server was very easygoing and almost over attentive, so it was clear no one was in the weeds.

And the game had been over for a couple hours.

Well, clearly Ballsack is just out to get Yeezy and I, because it was not good :( You know how when people pour cinnamon or something in their mouth for pranks? It was like that when I dug into the bone. Just powder. But it tasted like salt.

Oh well.

I'll never go back. Like FT said, Mexican food is already not my thing. And it just hasn't been good for me

Meaning they were probably balls to the wall busy for most of the day. Could have possible gotten thin on some items. Maybe that's why you didn't have plantains or marrow. Could have been scrapping the bottom the barrel.

Even if what you say is true, you don't send out an inferior product. If the bone you are bringing out doesn't have marrow, don't serve it.

I just don't know.

I've done Besh restaurants on busy nights. I did Domenica before a Saints game.. Did Borgne on New Year's Eve with a prix fixe menu.. Did Luke before an Eagles concert. I don't find his other places to be inconsistent, but it seems with Ballsack, it may not be bad .. just inconsistent. Which is enough of a reason for me to not bother again.

That meal was not worth $70.

Was hardly an empty table in Baru the night before (same-ish style of food), and everything was perfect.

In fairness I have this opinion about Baru.

I didn't try an entree, but the small plates were all knocked out of the park for me.

And for $11/per, I don't feel like it was bad. I will admit the crudo and ceviche was smaller portions than you'd get at Peche, but the skirt steak and the pork belly arepas were enough to be a meal.

(Sopes @ Sanchez were $15. Arepas at Baru were $11)

Totally agree, but Ballsack wouldn't have been on my radar yesterday still.
