The committee inexplicably dropped Michigan State behind Mississippi State. This dropped Mich State out of the Orange Bowl and took the slot in the Citrus Bowl which would have been for an ACC team. This created a situation where there were more bowl eligible ACC teams than ACC bowl tie ins. The end result is that NC State dropped from playing in a "Tier 1" ACC bowl, the Belk Bowl in Charlotte a few hours away, to a "Tier 2" Bowl, the fricking Bitcoin bowl in St petersburg vs UCF.
But Duke has to go to El Paso and UNC has to go to Detroit so

I don't think they should have gotten into the playoff, but they deserve a better matchup than the Black Bears.
It would have been funny if they had given TCU a rematch against Baylor, though. There would have been a lot of hostility on that field.
