Forza, Drive Club or the Crew.

Gf wants a need for speed type game for Xmas. Im leaning towards Forza right now. Game of the year edition on amazon for 50 bucks.

I've never played it, but I think Forza is more of a racing sim, whereas NFS is an arcade racer.

The Crew will be the game she likes. if you want a semi realistic driving game, go with Forza Horizons 2. It still has the Forza name, but it's an open world racer. Not sure how Horizons 2 is, but The Crew is the same way, but you can pretty much make any kind of car you want. You can put dirt road tires on a mustang, mercedes, etc. Forza 5 is strictly a racing game. No story mode, no open world racing. Just straight track racing.

Driveclub is the game that was originally supposed to be a launch day PS4 title but got pushed back forever. When it was released online didn't work for about two weeks.

Forza although DriveClub at $35 is tempting, don't know if it's fixed yet.

Forza is more like GT than Need for Speed. I'd get Horizons 2 or the other two options.

This new dynamic weather in DriveClub is fricking amazing. Jesus this game is beautiful.

quote:

Water droplets: Unlike many games, DriveClub uses individual droplet particles to represent the rain. Each particle is impacted by the game's motion blur system, giving the impression of long, vertical streaks while driving. Evolution didn't simply draw a bunch of thin transparent lines and use them to create rain. Rather, the developer relies on the game's ultra-detailed rendering systems to handle this effect properly and correctly with unprecedented levels of interaction between cars, environments and effects. It's even crazier in the snow where blizzard-like conditions occur with so many particles on screen that it can become difficult to drive, with Norway at night proving truly frightening. More impressively, these particles are properly lit by the player car's headlamps, looking incredible in motion.

quote:

It's hard not to rave about what we're seeing here with this latest patch. We love looking closely at game visuals and picking apart the fine detail, and it's rare to come across something so startlingly impressive - but here it is. The weather effects in DriveClub are, without a doubt, some of the most realistic we've seen in any game to date. Combining these effects with the already excellent lighting model and realistic materials elevates Evolution's racer to the top of the pack from a visual perspective and in combination with the other features added to the game, it definitely deserves another look.

Visually the game is great but unfortunately there just isn't enough game mode wise (tracks/amount of cars) to keep people interested in the long haul.

There is a ton game mode wise, and already about 7 free DLC packs with more events and cars. Plenty of tracks too. Canada is my favorite so far.

About to hit up Norway in the snow.

There are 3 race types. Drifting, Point A-B, and lap racing. Online adds a team aspect which does nothing more than award points based on finishing position. I love the way the game plays and the way it looks but it just doesn't have a ton of replay ability to me. Those DLC packs are yet to be released IIRC. They need American cars in there. Yes, I know they are adding the Stingray, but they need more than just it.
