How ironic before the season the big 12 was bragging about having a system for a true conference champion and exactly the opposite happened.

Think this makes them add teams and create a championship game now?

Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered. FSU, Oregon and Bama were locks and the committee wasn't going to keep OSU out after that blitzing of Wisconsin regardless of what anyone else did.

The no title game is just the public excuse. The bottom line is that 12-1 Ohio State is never ever ever ever playing second fiddle to Baylor or TCU unless they are undefeated.

It's bad luck really. It's obviously set up that way to give them the best chance of making playoff and it did the opposite.
If a few more teams would have another loss. They could say they have two Champs deserving to be in. Or if the team that loss the head to head has a better resume and is higher ranked it protects them from NOT being a conference champ.
This is why they set it up this way and I feel the committee knows this and was pissed about them trying to stack their odds. What will be hilarious is if the opposite happens next year after they change the head to head champ rule..
Example: Oklahoma and Baylor have one loss. Oklahoma wins conference but has another loss to a non conference team like FSU. Their highest ranked team is not a conf. Champ

Every time a media person asks one of the big 12 coaches about not having a championship game, they go off on a rant about "we play 9 conference games". Uh ok? Congrats. WTF does it matter if you play 8 or 9? Never got this argument

Blah, blah, blah

If FSU and Ohio State both lost last night, then the Big12 could have quite possibly gotten two teams in ...

We can create several scenarios where a championship game can help or hurt a team.

Ultimately, these threads are dumb

No way a championship game hurts your chances. Unless you lose it of course. So your reply is dumb.

This. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. This year it didn't work out for the Big12.

Well 9 conf games is great but if your conference has a down year and Texas and OU suck and only three teams are in the top 25 vs being in a conf that has 4 teams in the top 25....throw in that your OOC schedule is shitty then yeah, maybe it doesn't work. None of this matters Alabama going to kick everyone's face in this year.

Not having a championship game wouldn't have mattered if TCU and Baylor were Texas or Oklahoma. No way the committe moves either of those two teams from 3 to 6 and leaves them out of the playoffs. A classic case of the haves and the have nots.

I believe the committee said (or was rumored) at the beginning of the process that conference champs would be very important.

What we do know is that TCU was ranked ahead of Ohio State as long as their SOS was higher. When SOS swung the other way, Buckeyes got the nod.

A title game wouldn't help TCU since they wouldn't have played in it. Baylor won the hypothetical division. Baylor, with another KSU win, would have been neck and neck with OSU. No reason to have a problem with either OSU or BU.
