All of Will Cover's suggestions are great.

I would add the following:

Upscale dining:
The Southern
Adele's
Sinema
Josephine

Best meat & three:
Arnold's

Hotels:
Omni - the best
Hermitage
Hilton Downtown
Hyatt Place

Hope you enjoy Nashville!!!

Awesome that you posted this. We're leaving for Nashville at 7am saturday morning and coming back Tuesday evening. Don't know where the rooms are booked but its supposed to be centrally located. Cant wait.

Now i don't have to make a thread looking for recs. Thx bro.

For those driving from the west, here are some convenient local places close to I-55 and 40:

Southaven, MS:
Memphis BBQ
Interstate BBQ
Gus's Fried Chicken
Avelinos (Italian)
Milanos (Italian)
Swankys Tacos

Memphis:
Corey's BBQ on Poplar Ave
Central BBQ on Summer Ave
Humdingers on Poplar Ave (South African Piri Piri Chicken & Fish)

Jackson:
Casey Jones (Country Buffet)

Waverly-Linden Exit (1 Hr West of Nashville):
Log Cabin- Worth the stop. Great Meat and 3. Veggies are delicious.

If you want to support a Louisiana ex-pat and LSU fan, Papa Boudreau's is way off the beaten path in Santa Fe and Franklin, but worth a look. I've been there once and thought it was really good. As good as you will find this far from LA, at least.

Have to add Hot Chicken.

Boltons on Main is the closest to downtown and my favorite. Its also about 2 blocks from Fat Bottom brewery which is a cool place to hang out.

Hot chicken is really good when done right. I actually prefer the taste to most buffalo sauces with the same heat level. If you can stand a little heat, definitely try this while in Nashville.

Better than Belle Napoli. Coco's italian makes the best pizzas IMO.

At least link to the page with pictures too. LINK

For any beer nerds (in no order)

Bottle Shops
Frugal McDoogal
Midtown Wine
Craft Brewed

Draft Selection
Hops and Crafts
Flying Saucer
Craft Brewed
12 South Taproom
ML Rose
The Hop Stop

TN has different alcohol laws than LA. High gravity beer, wine, and liquor are only in liquor stores and they are closed on Sunday. Grocery stores and gas stations only sell beer below 6.5% and nothing else. Places like Craft Brewed and Midtown Wine have side-by-side shops to sell the different beers.

Downtown:

The Southern is a great new Restaurant in the new Pinnacle Building downtown.

Franklin (15 miles South of Downtown Nashville) is a very cool place. Has many great places to eat:

55 South - 55 South
Red Pony - Red Pony
Cork & Cow - Cork & Cow
Pucketts Grocery - Downtown Franklin Location.
Missing Cajun food......
Papa Boudreaux's - Papa Boudreaux's

There are many other neat places to eat in and around the Franklin Town Square. It is a little like stepping back in time where the old town square was the center of everything.

I highly recommend visiting Franklin if you want an "old-South" town feel with a little less "honky-tonk" atmosphere. Really great CIVIL war tours at Carnton Plantation. Less crowded than downtown Nashville. The area has lots of great choices!

Also, check out Leipers Fork area.

I wouldn't suggest Franklin to people coming to Nashville for a bowl game for the first time.

Its a quaint little Southern town 15 minutes minimum South of Nashville. I'm sure most people are staying in downtown hotels and would rather walk everywhere. There are dozens of great restaurants and bars downtown.

Will Cover had a good list.

All downtown hotels are walkable to the game. There is a pedestrian bridge across the river. Its a perfect setup for football games and partying before/after.
