Conspiracy Theory...Big 12 was shut out of playoffs to accelerate their demise?

For some time, there was talk about CFB evolving into four power conferences. At first, we thought the Big 12 was going to fold when Texas flirted with the Pac-12, and Texas A&M and Mizzou jumped ship to the SEC. Then, it looked like the ACC could fold when the Big Ten poached Maryland. But the ACC strengthened itself with Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and a deal with Notre Dame.
Now, the Big 12 looks vulnerable again. Shut out of the first playoffs with two teams deserving of the 4th spot. They have essentially been told to add a conference championship game, but they would need to add two schools and the pickings are very slim.
The Big 12 only has to marquee teams: Texas and Oklahoma. Neither would have been kept out of the 2011 BCS title game had they been in Oklahoma State's shoes. And neither would have been kept out if they were in Baylor and TCU's shoes today.
Can anyone else foresee a major conference shakeup as a result of today's news?

If i buy in, the media rights won't stop either team from bolting. They can afford to pay that money with out putting a dent in their war chest, especially Tejas. They print money.
So, if Tejas and OU wanted to bolt, they could and this would be perfect time to talk to pac12 commish.

I don't think so, but it would be quite hilarious.
They can have A&M back, tho.

The University of Central Florida very much wants to join the Big 12. Add one additional team and they save themselves from extinction.

The other Texas schools will not let Texas go anywhere. The teasips are now captives in the prison they built.

Can someone break down a realistic possibility on how the current big12 teams could be distributed throughout the other conferences.

Cincy is a good market
and isnt Orlando (UCF) like the 3rd largest in the country?
The money might make sense to expand to 12.

Byu and cincy makes the most sense.

SEC will take Texas and TCU, and send A&M to the B1G.

OU is tied to OSU and UT is tied to TTU and TCU and Baylor. Trust me, the horns are stuck with them.

I don't think it's to accelerate its demise. It's forcing them to expand. OU/Texas are against expanding and did not want a conference championship.
Today's result indicates they must expand. They should add Boise State and BYU.
Big 12 North: K-State, kU, BYU, Boise State, Iowa State, West Virginia
Big 12 South: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech
Or, if they want to get up to 14, they can add Central Florida and Memphis too.

no idea. Cincy would definitely be up on the top of the list. that's not by any means any worse than iowa state. shite, look at what mizzou did after moving to the SEC. they've been playing up. i think they would be a great fit.
as for the other one, maybe BYU? maybe Tulane?

i bet they are changing their minds after today, unless they want to be seen as a third tier conference for the foreseeable future.
