The Pelicans, with Anthony Davis and Omer Asik up front, are tied with the Knicks at 27th in points allowed per possession.

That is actually overall team rating, not AD/Asik. That stat also ignores that they're playing defense with the likes of Evans, Rivers, Babbitt, Anderson, etc.

Context is a cold bitch

Do you understand what Lowe is saying? Because it looks like you don't understand what Lowe is saying.

GI, Lowe isn't bashing the players. He's taking veiled shots at Monty like the rest of the national media.

I only posted a quote and made no comment. How do you know what I am saying?

Your thread title suggests you don't understand what Lowe is saying.

That's what's baffling to me. Asik, Davis, and Holiday are supposed to be good defenders. 3 of the 5 starters are really good on defense. Yet the team defense isn't great.

Lowe worded that poorly. He is speaking of team defense while mentioning that Davis and Asik are the starting front court.

I will say that welcome to the media, Pels fans. They love to hype up a player, but once everyone is on board, they will look to find the negatives. James Harden knows all about that.

I understand that; the poster is, though. He is failing on multiple levels.

They were much better before Gordon went down. Asik, Jrue, and Davis are all very good defenders at their position. Gordon was probably a plus defender. Evans is probably not, but an argument could be made. The rest of our roster are minus defenders. We' ll see how Mekel and Cunningham hold up.

Nothing worded poorly in that sentence and no shots fired at players. That's why the commas are there.

Davis/Asik pair has a 99 DRating on the season. 91 at home, 108 on the road. For comparison, Davis/Holiday are 96 at home, 112 on the road and a 105 overall. Even Anderson/Davis is 99 at home, a ghastly 115 on the road and 109 overall.

So we learned that the Pelicans can play defense (and offense- 5% point difference in eFG and TS at home v road) at home. Not so much on the road. Some of that is schedule (Spurs, Cavs, Blazers, Warriors, Clippers on the road v Hornets, Lakers, Magic, Wolves at home). Some of that is on a young team. And some of that is on coaching.

And we were abused by backcourt players, especially from 3. Griffin got off for 30. He was 7/8 inside 3 ft and knocked down 10 FTs.

H. Barnes- 17
Klay- 23
Draymond- 14
Curry- 19

CP3- 18
Redick- 21
Barnes- 14
Crawford- 20

Again, this stat is points allowed per possesion with AD/Asik on the floor with 3 other guys. Everyone needs to pull their weight
