Since 2007: LSU (2 SEC WC, 2 SECC, 1 NC), Bama (5 SEC WC, 3 SECC, 3 NC)

Of course, Bama still has the chance to win a 4th NC, and they probably will.

Les has been great in his time at LSU over all, but it is too bad that much of his tenure at LSU has coincided with one of the greatest of all runs in college football history by Bama under quite possibly the GOAT college coach in Saban.

Bama's success only makes LSU fans life miserable and exacerbates every little misstep by Miles. If Saban hadn't won so many rings after his return to college football, I doubt so many people here would be calling for Miles' head like they are doing now.

People like to call Les Miles a lucky coach. I will make the argument that he is one of the unluckiest ever to have to go against one of college football's greatest dynasties.

And no
les Miles winning a Natty with 2 losses makes him one of the luckiest coaches of all time

Les miles isn't on trial here. There is no need to protect him.

Idk i would say getting a rematch withtou winning your conference is pretty lucky.

Or getting to play the #3 team in the polls because the BCS loved Oklahoma for some reason.

Unless you are undefeated you are lucky.

So lets not belittle our own fricking championship, that our fricking team won, to make a point about our coach.

It's good to admit the truth. Saban is better than Miles. That was exposed painfully on 1/9. One can speculate how many more titles we'd have if Saban were gone, but we have what we have.

Saban has owned LSU in recent years, but we have played them closely in 2 of the last 4, and that's better than many others. We may be the closest in talent level and experience to get back on the winning end in the series as soon as next season.

Saban facing a coach using the same game plan that was used in the previous meeting was lucky too.

maybe if we can changed it up, and put Lee back there, the defensive linemen would, idk miss a stationary target that throws irradic passes when the pass rushing i coming at him, and has a career TD/INT ratio of 1/7 against Alabama.

But it was a gameplay issue.

I'd like to see Auburn's stats during that same time period. Too lazy to look up.

He's neither lucky nor unlucky. He's just Charles McClendon, a good coach who wasn't as good as his main competition. Both would have had more success if they'd been better coaches or their counterparts at Alabama hadn't been as good, but they weren't. Alabama simply demands more of their football program than LSU does, so they fire coaches for performances that would rate a raise and extension at LSU. Because they demand better, they get better (eventually). The standards of excellence are just different there. That's not luck, it's just commitment to excellence. They have it, we don't. Nothing more to the story than that.

Very solid and objective post. The only thing that I would like to add is Les gets himself into trouble with LSU fans with how damn stubborn he is.
