12/17 Final Update --Martha McSally wins AZ recount, becomes GOP Rep #247

... with one race still undetermined.
The 246 represents the most Republicans in the House since the 80th Congress (1947-1949), when the scorecard read 246 GOP, 188 Dems and 1 American Labor Party.
We'll know on the 16th or 17th of this month (at the latest) whether the Republicans get #247, which would then represent the most since the 71st Congress (1929-1931).
Thank you, President Obama!

Someone built that for them.

Any chance he'll put this and his whole policies on the ballot thing together?

12/12 UPDATE:
The machine recount in both counties (Pima and Cochise) has been completed. No public announcement will be made at this time regarding the outcome of the machine recount, as AZ law requires a small hand-count of a random sample to be completed to determine if the hand count yields any significant variances. (If so, a complete hand recount of all ballots would be required. That, however, is considered to be a very unlikely result.) That random sampling is being done today in Cochise County, while Pima County will do so on Monday (the 15th).
Final results must be transmitted to the state elections office by 5 PM on Tuesday (16th) and will be publicly certified on Wednesday the 17th. Most believe word will leak out on Tuesday as to the actual winner, but even if not, we will know for sure by this coming Wednesday whether or not the GOP won #247 or not. Unless, of course, the sample hand count reveals significant discrepancies, resulting in a complete hand recount of all ballots, a highly improbable, though not impossible, occurrence.
A word to those who don't see much significance to one seat from Arizona, considering the GOP margin would still be 57 seats even if McSally were to lose the recount - just look at that last-minute 214-212 House vote yesterday.
Winning the former Gabby Giffords seat would be icing on the cake for the Republicans in 2014, and we're finally down to just a few days of waiting for the result. And to put in that seat not only another Republican woman, but a former combat fighter pilot, puts one more hole in the war on women silliness.

Retired Air Force Cpl. Martha McSally was just announced as the official winner of AZ CD #2, defeating incumbent Dem. Ron Barber by 167 votes after all recount totals were announced by a federal judge.
The original margin of victory was 161 votes, so the entire recount process ended up netting her a gain of 6 votes.
114th House: Republicans 247, Dems 188 - a 59 seat margin.
Here's more about her:

The Democrats stole all four close races in California.

40 short of 2/3rds. Oh well.

Ron Barber was the one who took over for Gabby Giffords and was her handpicked stooge

From my earlier post:
"Winning the former Gabby Giffords seat would be icing on the cake for the Republicans in 2014, "
Considering he was shot in the thigh and lost a massive amount of blood (as well as being shot in the face) and spent days in an intensive care unit in the Giffords shooting, and had a solid reputation as a person and was not a political hack (had just joined her staff in 2007 after a 32 career as a state civil servant), and the individuals on both sides of him died in the shootings, I would hesitate to define him as a "stooge", despite not agreeing with his politics. He earned the seat by winning a Special Election and then won again in 2012 by a small margin over McSally. The fact that only 167 votes separated them out of a total of about 203,000 speaks for itself.
I followed this matchup closely in 2012 and again this year, and I'm extremely pleased that McSally won. I don't feel a need to demean the man she defeated just because his former boss was made the poster child of anti-gun fanatics by her own husband and others who previously paid her no heed. The shootings brought out the worst in people on both sides, as such events always do.
For me, it's about her winning more than him losing.

43 short if all present and voting. But one could easily foresee a situation where members of a sitting president's own party would choose to either not be present or not vote, lowering the number of override votes actually needed. If the Senate were to hold their override vote first and the two-thirds benchmark was not attained, the House wouldn't even hold their vote.

She was easily one of the most intelligent and effective officers I've ever worked for. And she had no problem taking anyone to task. Hopefully she does the right thing in Wasington.

Two more years of Barry might get the pubs over the hump.
