Travelling 10 hrs to my parents for a weeks stay. Normally our 1 yr old would sleep in a pack n' play, but we will be there 5 nights. My parents are pretty connected with other grandparents in thier neighborhood, and have produced loaner baby items for our trips in the past. Is there something short of a crib, but more stable than a pack n' play, that I can ask my parents to borrow/buy for our stay?

Don't know of anything.

We've used a pack n play for a few days with no issues.

We bought an inflatable twin mattress. Our kid is 4 so he fits fine. A 1yr old? I am not sure if that is safe or not.

Just use the pack n play. That's what it's made for

We drive 10 hrs to my parents about twice a year to stay 5-6 days, and our daughter slept in a pack n play during those trips just fine all the way to 2 years old. They make portable crib mattresses (the exact size of a pack n play) that are under $30 and are a huge step up from the pad that comes with pack n plays. We bought one for that exact purpose, and it's worked out for my daughter as well as my 7-month-old son.

More stable for what? It's a bed for a 1 year old.

That's exactly the purpose of the pack n play.

We use an inflatable kids bed for short travel. It's an inflatable mattress with an inflatable bumper ring all the way around. Keeps him from rolling out. Works great.

That is the exact reason to own a pack and play... Keep it on lowest setting near the ground and put some thick blankets or comforters over it if you don't have a mattress pad.. How much stability do you need for a 20lb kid

just throw the clothes out of the largest drawer in the bedroom - put some sort of made up mattress and lay 1yr in there - if start crying shut the drawer.

We used the pack n play until he didn't fit comfortably anymore. Now, he is 2 and uses a kiddie cot with his nap mat from school. We travel a bit with this setup. We will even bring it to someone's house if we will be there late.

Pack & Plays have become smaller over the years.
Grace still makes a large one.
It's the bright multicolored one - green, blue, yellow, & red.
Graco - "Entertainment size" pack & play
